The ideal place for Lunch on your own. The water view is peaceful and relaxing, the staff are friendly and welcoming, and the food is tasty and well prepared. I was able to park outside the door that is level with the upper restaurant floor, and there was a very good disabled toilet near the entrance. There is a very good choice of starters, mains, and desserts. The food is not pretentiously plated, which I prefer, but looks really appetising. The only slight niggle is that the mains on the weekday lunch menu don't vary much from visit to visit, leaving me feeling that I would like to sample the good cooking with a different meat, but I still enjoy them. Sunday lunch has roasts.

The Mill Pool offers a menu that is different to other restaurants around. The choice is good and the serving size is excellent. Pleasant ambience with a lovely view of the pool. Difficult to choose a dessert but went for the strawberry Etonian Mess which was gorgeous. Discount a available too off the whole price!

This place takes a lot of beating regards food quality and quantity, excellent service and value for money. Dined there today with a friend for the first time for me and a return visit for her. Friendly welcome and good Sunday lunch menu with plenty of choice. Service was prompt without making us feel there was a rush. Staff friendly and the food for a Sunday lunch seemed freshly cooked unlike other places I have dined at where it has tasted as if it had been kept hot. Will definitely make a return visit.

Tucked away down the lanes behind Tarporley the Mill Pool isn’t just easily missed it’s hard to find.

The menu is refreshingly brief – essential in a quiet restaurant if there is to be any quality at all. And here there is indeed quality aplenty. My filet steak was simply sublime – the best I’ve ever had, perfectly cooked, for once medium rare was exactly that, wonderfully seasoned and sauced and served with the best hand crafted chips I’ve tasted. Faultless. My dining companions similarly enjoyed really top notch eating, including Welsh rarebit and chicken wings starters, and beef casserole and curry mains.

But there it ends. The Mill Pool is a mind boggling left-behind time warp that reminds you how truly dreadful dining experiences in Britain of the 70s and 80s were. Apparent attempts to modernise are embarrassingly naff, and you’re kept in an in-between time zone world until you leave. There is a bar, of sorts and, well everything is of sorts, but there’s nothing in the layout or decor that’s remotely right, save perhaps the millpool view. The plastic coated menus, fly filled lampshades, tartan carpet; it never ends. The experience reminds me very much of Scottish establishments of twenty years ago. In a county that has very definitely moved on the Millpond remains marooned in a past most of us had forgotten.

Oh, but then there’s the food. I’ll remember that.

This restaurant is situated overlooking the pool, great location just behind Oulton Park racing circuit. We went with 4 other friends on a Saturday night about 3 weeks ago. The food was excellent, good menu with plenty of choices. The price and service is excellent value for money. The staff are helpful and attentitive at all times. This is the second time we have been here and will definately go back. Busy at weekends but quieter in the week. Its a gem in the Cheshire countryside. Lovely place to take people to for somewhere different.
