Description: The Nag's Head situated in the picturesque hamlet of Haughton, near Tarporley, has been standing since 1680, so its seen some history during its time. Now with menus created by Michelin Star chef Nigel Haworth, it has been transformed following an extensive but sympathetic and loving refurbishment into one of the county's finest regional food pubs. Just off the beaten track and only a couple of minutes drive from the bustling village of Bunbury, Tudor styled full of character and charm, surrounded by beautiful countryside, steeped in history with nearby attractions such as Beeston Castle, Tatton Park and the restored Water Mill at Bunbury. As quintessentially English as a pub can be, The Nag's Head represents everything a fine Cheshire pub should be, a bowling green, kitchen garden, a delightful al fresco dining garden perfect to celebrate our British Summer and four crackling log fires inside make it the ideal winter dining and drinking destination too. From cocktails on the lawn to hearty meals by the fire, The Nag's Head will truly be a destination for all lovers of great food local ales, fabulous wines and real Northern hospitality.

The Nag's Head was a regular reunion site for us and never put a foot wrong. Excellent food and service in a great atmosphere. It has now been closed by the "new owners" Ribble Valley Inns. I have eaten in all of their other establishments in Lancashire and found good food, imaginative menus, and presentation. The atmosphere has always been good and they seem to be very child friendly. I can't wait for the Nag's Head to re-open later this year and will certainly be there for Christmas 2014

I've eaten at this gorgeous country pub several times in the last couple of months and have nothing but praise for it. It's situated slightly off the beaten track and well worth seeking out. First impressions are great as the building is old and stunning, with a lovely garden and even a bowling green! Inside is cosy and inviting with lovely staff and it's even dog friendly too.

The menu is full of classic British dishes and my favourite is the Lancashire Hot Pot which comes with pickled red cabbage, yum. Turns out the pub is now backed by Nigel Haworth and the hot pot is his winning dish from the Great British Menu which would rather explain why it's so awesome! When I can tear myself away from this everything I've eaten has been outstanding and great value.

Hubby is a big fan of real ale and loves the different beers he gets here. They're locally sourced and new ones are available regularly so there's always something new to try. Overall I love visiting this pub and sitting by the fire with family and friends. Looking forward to many more visits to come.

Came here for sunday lunch, we were the first ones to get here and thought that this was a bad
sign at first! How wrong could we be! The waitresses were friendly and attentive and we were seated in a lovely large conservatory. We both had the chicken roast dinner, the chicken was beautiful, the veg very nice but a touch on the hard side. But this is down to preference as i like my veg soft. For dessert i had the blackforest cheesecake which was lovely and my partner had the rice pudding. We will both come back again on a saturday evening to try the a la carte menu.
Well wrth a visit.

Really enjoyed ourselves last night! Good service from friendly and chatty staff and despite the large numbers to cater for, the food was excellent. I had melon and ham to start and roast lamb for my main which was delicious followed by pavlova which was equally lovely. The others on the table all enjoyed their meals too, especially the steak pie. The chips in the evening were amazing, crispy and fat just perfect! We'd definitely come back for meal in the future.
