“A great find”
Reviewed November 21, 2013

A good friend recommended this Pub/restaurant and we visited for lunch one Saturday in mid September, after a trip to the excellent nearby plant nursery.

The Boot Inn is tucked away in a tranquil spot down a pretty country lane.

The interior is warm, welcoming and unspoilt, we ate in the smaller room in the oldest part.

We ordered the fish sharing platter, this was beautifully presented, with a very balanced mix of seafood. The portions were generous and most importantly, it was delicious.

The house wine was fine and good value.

The service was friendly & efficient BUT as mentioned by the previous reviewer we also suffered from the dreaded "there you go" every time anything was delivered to the table!!

As a result we have deducted one star from what would have been a five star rating.

Would we visit again, definitely, there we go!!

“A Pub with optional circular walks!”
Reviewed October 27, 2013

This pub is ideal for meeting friends and going for a long or short circular walk from the pub car park before or after lunch or miss the walk and just eat! Cosy main area with log fire. Service was fine but I was a little fed up by the end of the meal of the servers saying "Here you go" 'There you go' every time an item was put on the table. Maybe you should go just to see how many times they say it to you! Will visit again as they are open for coffee/ tea during the day.

“Great Food Good Bitter and Friendly Service”
Reviewed October 25, 2013

We found the Boot Inn by chance whilst travelling back over the hills from a weekends motor sport at Oulton Park, the "Boot" is our firm favourite place for an early evening meal. Its busy with local and visitors alike, you have a choice of tables along side the bar , around the huge log fire or at the back in a larger room. Over the past year we have worked our way through the menu including some great specials. Never had enough space for all 3 courses though. Would recommend booking a table at W/E and B/H. Favourite beer is the Best a local bitter .

“Fantastic Meal”

Great evening, friendly efficient service, superb food and wine, sea bass risotto was one of the best dishes I have had for years. I can highly recommend if you like top end food at reasonable prices.

“What a shame...”
Reviewed October 9, 2013

Having recently moved to the area, we were recommended by a colleague to visit 'The Boot Inn'. We stumbled across The Boot on Saturday and went for a lunchtime drink, and found it so cosy that we booked for dinner that evening. On returning, we found it to be very cosy and perfect for a romantic meal following our recent engagement. However, we were walked passed the tables for two in the main dining area, to the back room which was cold, very light where the tables were for 4-8 people with no one in but us two - a stark contrast to main room. I asked if we could sit at the table for two at the front, and was told no, and that they would be putting the tables together for the landlord. So my partner moved around the table for 4 so that we could sit closely together. We were assured more people would be eating in the room we were in, but no one else did just us two, and after an average meal left noticing there were lots of tables for two in the main restaurant. For me, I visited the place for the ambiance and cosy interior and was shocked as a paying customer I was sidelined to make way for the landlord to have his dinner on prime time busy Saturday evening...the customer is not king in this public house!

you were almost the last in on sat so your choice of tables was indeed limited . I was holding a table for a limited mobility customer not for myself near the door but who later felt more comfortable in the bar ,near the exit .so that table was not used .to late to move people . and of course gradually towards the end of the busy night customers who had arrived early than your self had indeed left .were sorry we were unable to get you a cosy table but it was all we had left on what was a full night .
