Description: The Bear's Head in Brereton is a country pub & restaurant oozing rural charm and rustic character. Our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.

Our 3rd time at this pub was recently in April 14 for lunch and it was just average. Staff are very important in a restaurant/pub and when we walked in we were met with quite an unfriendly and serious man who led us to the table. It was almost like we were going in to a board meeting and been shown to the table! A lady came over to take our order and we requested not to have any ice in either drink, we said this twice. We then saw the drinks sitting on the bar with ice in them so i went up and asked them if these were ours and was told yes. Clearly the waitress did not listen nor was there any urgency to bring them over. Whilst waiting for our food we heard some bickering going on behind the bar between staff members about table reservations- very unprofessional. It wasn't that clean inside but I have seen worse. The food was good which was the only really positive thing. A shame about the staff- Vintage Inns should get mystery shoppers to go in so these issues can be addressed. That's if they care which i'm not really sure if they do.

Dined here last week, prices are a little steep but food was well cooked and Hot. Steaks were tasty and obviously well sourced. Service was excellent, shortish blonde haired waitress was very professional, aswell as very warming and well trained, which always adds and makes the experience better. Would dine here again.

Dined here Saturday 8th March 2014, very disappointed, I ordered a steak (£17.99)(medium to Rare) as I don`t like any other way, it came well done & tasteless (& for the price was extortionate) with what was described as seasoned chips (More like frozen skinny chips) no veg... so had to pay extra for peas. And to top it off went to pay the bill & the chap behind the bar miserable & didn`t even comment or ask how meal was. Won`t be visiting again.

The menu was so varied. I could have chosen loads of the fish or vegetarian dishes. My kids had creamy tomato pasta with ciabatta-style garlic bread. They really enjoyed it. The puddings were really delicious too.
