“Very nice”
Reviewed November 5, 2011

We visited the Legs of Man on Saturday night and sat in the restaurant. We had had to book 2 weeks in advance but well worth the wait. We used to go quite frequently to the pub side of the pub but decided it had become more like a transport cafe than a pub. How different then the restaurant is from the pub....
Tables are beautifully set with linen table cloths and napkins, menus are in a proper wallet and drinks are brought to the table. The wait was around 40 minutes for the food but well worth waiting for, I had the sirloin steak with pepper sauce and brandy which was nicely cooked and presented, plenty of chips came with the steak and the vegetables were SILVER SERVED - I haven't seen this in a pub / restaurant for years. My partner had the baked ham which was also very good.
Would we return? Definitly but to the restaurant and not the pub, it is like 2 different establishments!
Worth noting the waitresses are quite tasty also ;-)

“Very nice pub+food, but service below parr and don't book”
Reviewed October 2, 2011

I'm a truck driver and see loads off pub across the UK, I live 5mile's from this pub/restaunt and have been going here with my family for years and here's my view.....

The pub seems abit dated but has that cottage feel about it and i like that, however the service in the pub is the same,I mean dated not the freindlyest off people or this could be that i have seen better or had better .
Then there's the food this is were the pub shine's I think they must have a top chef as the food is really great, nice selection and well priced but sometime's there can be a long wait from the point of ordering upto 1hr, And don't bother booking xmas hear as i've tryed for 3years and failed.even tryed booking from easter for xmas, you leave you contact details so they can get in touch and you never get a call back, then they say we have no details you even left any...so whats a guy to do lol, anyway it's a great pub, lovely food,it's just let down by custermer services, Id give this pub 6.5/10 but they sort there Customer Services out and do what they say they will do then i'd give the 9/10

“Great Pub in Cheshire”
Reviewed September 10, 2011

Although we have been to Cheshire numerous times to visit family (wife born and raised there) we somehow never dined here. We took my mother-in-law one Sunday for brunch-she was overwhelmed and so were my wife and I. It has to be the greatest pub menu ever-and the food was excellent, the staff courteous and efficient and the beer great. We went back four times more and will be sure to go again next year when we visit.

“Fire up the Cortina! And a Campari & Soda for the little lady...”
Reviewed August 2, 2011

In the dim and distant past, my parents used to bundle us kids up in the car and we'd go for a drive in the Cheshire countryside. If Mum & Dad were feeling flush, we may well have stopped off for a meal at a place like the Legs of Man.

From the outside, it's a typical Robinson's inter-war country pub - but when you step inside is when you marvel at six decades of decor crammed into one building: the rotating doors from the 50s, the fine wood panelling of the restaurant from the 60s, the bar itself pure 1970s - expect Bet Lynch to come over and serve you. (in reality we got the only slightly less-exotic Spanish owner). We ate in the little 80s area next to the bar and opposite the cool 90s/Millennium area next to the windows. The decor is worth a vist in its own right.

We ordered the deep-fried Stilton-filled mushrooms, and the black pudding, red wine & bacon from the huge bar menu, and then monkfish mornay and a tuna steak from the only slightly shorter specials board. No complaints about either the food or the service. If you're the indecisive sort, you might want to allow an hour or so to peruse the menus.

They also serve Sunday roasts (and not just on Sunday), sandwiches, jacket potatoes and have a children's menu - plus there's the silver-service restaurant (empty when we were there), so there absolutely no excuse not to eat.

As others have said here, portions are "generous" - the starters are almost meals in themselves, and the mains come with big sides of vegetables and then chips as well, just in case you're still peckish.

With drinks, our meal for two came out at just under £40 - good value considering you won't be able to eat again for hours afterwards!

It's good pub grub, with good cask beer, a beer garden and children's play area. What more would you want?!

“Messed up our booking and were rude and unhelpful.”
Reviewed June 18, 2011

Just arrived having booked a table for 5 over a week ago. We were simply told they had nothing for 5. We explained we had booked and he simply said no. We looked through the book and discovered they had booked us in for next week instead. There was no attempt to squeeze us in, rectify the mistake or apologise. Very poor.
