“Nunsmere Hotel a hidden treasure”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 29, 2008

Secluded in the peaceful countryside situated on a lake. Nunsmere Hotel offers all the comforts and highest standards associated with a an exclusive five star hotel. An exquisite wine list, delectable food and superb service, with staff that can't do enough to make your stay just perfect.. I can honestly say I .just didn't want to leave this beautiful hotel.

1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 12, 2007

We dined at Nunsmere Hall at the beginning of December. Having visited here on several occasions in the past felt confident that the meal would be good. Unfortunately it most definitely was not. The starter of fried scallops was cold, the main course of duck was not just pink, it was red raw & to complete an astounding repast, the creme brulee was stodgy.
The public rooms appear to be in urgent need of refurbishment - the decor is somewhat tired & the carpets have seen better days. The staff were helpful but not particularly attentive.
Nunsmere Hall is no longer privately owned but part of a group so perhaps this is the reason for its decline in standards.
This hotel & restaurant are in the 'expensive' class but consider it would currently be difficult to justify the rates.
We won't be going back.

Went to this hotel for a nice relxing night stay and we definitely got that. The grounds are lovely to have a little amble and the surrounding area is beautiful.

The only downside was the cost. There was nothing so fantastically amazing to justify the pirces. For that reason I wouldn't come back unless I managed to find a cheap discounted deal

We stayed here recently for my partner's birthday and we were allocated the "lily" room. What a beautiful place. The hotel lives up to all of your expectations of a country home, and is truely special. Beautiful formal gardens, terraces and lakeside walks. The room was the best we have ever stayed in anywhere - lots of space and nice personal touches like maids calling at 8pm to bring cocoa! If you want somewhere special and romantic, dont look any further - we will definately be returning!

Stayed here for 1 night. Had lunch, dinner and breakfast. Food was excellent and staff very attentive. Lovely room overlooking the gardens. Fluffy bathrobes, huge bath and homemade cookies in the room. No noise to be heard from the rest of the hotel. Would definately return.
