My husband and I normally really like staying in Premier Inns, and you always know what you're getting - until staying here, however. Despite being in a good location, the place itself was pretty disappointing (decor, poor heating etc). We'd had a 6 hr drive and so needed to sleep, but no such luck. There was a lot of noise from 12.45am onwards from the room directly opposite us, and when it showed no signs of stopping I put my head outside the door only to be hit by a really strong smell of weed/cannabis. I rang down to Reception who reluctantly said they'd look into it. 2 hours later, the smell had got worse and had actually come into the room; the noise hadn't stopped - laughing in corridor right outside our door, doors slamming, people running up and down the stairs (the door to which was next to our room). At around 3am I opened the door and saw 2 staff members walking the corridor who said there'd also been a complaints from others, and that the smell had spread all along the corridor but they couldn't work out where it was coming from. By now it was v strong - we're not talking one or two joints here! Their suggestion was that I 'open the window' in our room - something I wasn't prepared to do at the end of December with only an old radiator heating the room. (None of this fancy heating that other Premier Inns have with the heating controls on the walls!)
To cut a long story short, it quietened down sometime around 3.30am though we were left with the sickly stench of weed for the rest of the night. There was no one on Reception in the morning at the time we checked out, so I rang up the next day to check they were going to issue us a refund. The staff member (who was really lovely) said they'd had to do quite a few for that night due to the issues, but it seemed they hadn't done one for us. She arranged to put it through for us. However, it's now almost 2 weeks later and we still haven't received it! I will be following this up!

In general, the Premier Inn itself is 'acceptable', but only just - it seems to be one of the older ones and really is in need of refurbishment, especially compared to the others we've stayed in. Our room, along with a lot of others, was in a separate building. It was tatty and a bit rough around the edges, with a loud, sliding bathroom door that looked like something from the 80s! It definitely needed some TLC, and even though the leaflets in the room stated we could change the room temperature on the new heating panel, it didn't even have one!

We would definitely recommend staying elsewhere, especially if you have a young family.

Received a warm welcome when we checked in on a Saturday in early January.

However, surprised how cold are room was (temperate gauge set to 17 degrees) and the room failed to get hotter than that. Different staff provided different reasons why turning up the thermostat did not resulting the room getting hotter! Eventually asked for a heater which did the trick. Decent night's sleep in a very comfortable bed.

Very pleasant "full fry" breakfast including a good selection of Gluten Free options.

Perfect room, venue, food and accomodation. clean and tidy. Good car parking. A warm building. i#nside walk to restaurant facilities. We always chose a Premier Inn when ever we travel. A very good price.

Stayed again at this Northwich Premier inn and it is very well run - check in service seamless - room spotless - breakfast is probably the best run service of any Premier Inn we have stayed at. All in all a great place to stay.
