We had a fabulous meal here and the staff couldnt have been more helpful, the portions are generous considering it was really very high quality food! The crumble was to die for and they happily let me take mine home as it was huge!

Went last night as group of 11. Had the perfect end to a sunny bank holiday Sunday. We arrived with the sun still beating down and so sat on the patio with a couple of pints and bottles of wine. 6 cask ales, the 3 we tried were really tasty and well kept.
The staff couldn't have been more helpful. A couple were added to our party at by the last minute and there was no bother in setting a different table for us as they didn't want us to be squashed together.
The staff took our orders out on the patio and called us in when our food was ready. The food was fantastic all round. The seabass, crushed potatoes and langoustine broth was as good as we have tasted anywhere. The liver, vegetarian option and steaks were all fantastic.
All in all a great place for food and drink with helpful, friendly staff.

We have been to the Hazel Pear several times since the new owners took it over recently. The menu is varied and caters for all tastes and the portions are generous. The reason we have returned here is also because of the atmosphere. This pub has blended a traditional pub style atmosphere with an envious, modern, comfortable surrounding. The staff were very attentive and all the food is fresh and the beer is good ! Many pubs in this area don't have the best beer on tap and a limited selection of wines - The Hazel Pear seems to have it all..... - even the odd footballer so im told ! Great pub !

We went out last night (Sunday) as a family for a impulse meal at a local pub. The decor was new and the daughter had been there recently. The surroundings and service were fine, and the menu was bistro type food. You could have vegetable curry, ballotine of chicken and rib-eye steak.

My husband enjoyed his curry. My ballotine of chicken was cold. The mash was lumpy with some uncooked potato in it. The gravy was thin and tasteless. The 'winter greens' turned out to be randomly cut chunks of boiled white cabbage. The chicken breast tasted like plastic with bacon that needed more roasting. (It is wrapped in Palma ham the waiter said taking the order.) The chicken also had some sort of artificial-looking stuffing that I left untouched. Finally my two sons had the expensive (£20) rib-eye steak that they both returned untouched. Cheap meat badly cooked. My main question would be, did they just defrost our meats? Did they cook my chicken on site at all?

Three out of five plates were returned untouched. Bistro prices, but service station food. Not recommended

Love what they have done with this pub, tasteful, although could do with some armchairs to keep you there...Staff friendly and efficient......love the small private dining area to one side.....food certainly not cheap £6.95 for fish finger buttie !! some of the main courses good, but there cheshire mashed potatoe a little bland and sausages tough as if re heated......but the building and smiles from the staff made up for what was missing from the food
