Love what they have done with this pub, tasteful, although could do with some armchairs to keep you there...Staff friendly and efficient......love the small private dining area to one side.....food certainly not cheap £6.95 for fish finger buttie !! some of the main courses good, but there cheshire mashed potatoe a little bland and sausages tough as if re heated......but the building and smiles from the staff made up for what was missing from the food

We discovered this lovely inn whilst looking for somewhere nice to have Sunday lunch. On entering the bar,we were greeted very warmly by a very nice gentleman who gave us a choice of different areas to dine in. The menu is interesting and varied with unusual choices for vegetarians.
We opted for the traditional Sunday roast,my husband having the roast rib of beef, which he claimed was excellent and my daughter and I chose the roast turkey, which came as thick slices of succulent breast on a creamy mash with roast potatoes & nicely cooked vegetables. Even though we did not arrive until after 2pm,our meals tasted as fresh as if they had just been cooked and we will certainly look forward to our next visit.Highly recommended if you are in the vicinity and well worth a little travelling to dine here. We also noticed on our way out that there is a little private area with a large table for 10 - ideal for a family get together, which we are planning. All the staff were pleasant and efficient and made us feel very welcome.

Myself and my husband called here on Saturday the 6th April 2013 and was surprised how much it had changed. The staff were very helpful we had a choice of tables as this was a mid afternoon visit. We chose a table by the wood burner which was lovely very warming ordered our drinks and food. We chose the board for two a very hearty ploughman's with a side order of chips. When our meal arrived we were very pleased with what was on the board we got ham; beef; pork pie; cheese; bread; onions; relish; and sliced apple. The chips were home made and very morish, the only downside if there was one is the drinks are quite pricey but the food was very reasonable priced. This is a pub we will visit again.

Our first visit for very many years, wow what a transformation, beautifully restored old country pub. We arrived early doors and were given a warm and friendly welcome, great pint of bitter to start. Our starters took a little while to arrive but when they did were just as expected simple and tasty . Mains were very nice I had the steak pie , pastry was exceptionally tasty, could have done with a bit more meat. My wife's steak perfectly cooked ,tender and flavoursome. The home made chips scrumtious just like mum used to do. We had a bottle of delicious mellow Argentinian malbec.the bill was what we would expect to pay anywhere for a meal of that sort the service was warm and friendly. All in a nice meal we will be back.
