We stayed in The Smithy for the weekend with two of our daughters. An ideal location and a truly wonderful place to stay.

“Beautifully appointed in. Wonderful setting.”
Reviewed March 28, 2014 for a stay in March 2014

Even though it is only day 2 of our mini break I just had to write to tell everyone just how fab this place is. The Old Smithy only looks small from the outside but opens up like a tardis. With its wood burner in the lounge and large kitchen/diner truly the attention to detail is amazing. The bedrooms are huge.....I wish my bedroom was as big as this. We only live an hour away but this really is a get away from it all relaxing spot.....with wifi. So close to idilic villages and lovely pubs and restaurants, it is the perfect place to hang up your hat and unwind. Eileen has been so helpful and easy to contact. She will make you feel welcome and special.

“Cosy and comfortable”
Reviewed March 19, 2014 for a stay in March 2014

The Old Smithy is delightful! It is clean, superbly furnished and decorated, with a highly equipped kitchen. All the creature comforts you'd want and a cosy sitting room with an open fire (there is also central heating). I enjoyed a quiet couple of days here and definitely have it on my list of places I'd visit again. Thank you so much for wonderful hospitality.

Liked best: The size of the cottage and having the log fire.
Liked least: The proximity to the road. Traffic noise was sometimes an issue.

“Beautiful house and location”

Have just come back from a 2 night stay at this wonderful venue and it was the perfect weekend. With the picturesque market town of Nantwich on the doorstep, it was the ideal place to spend time relaxing and getting a break from our busy lives! The house itself is gorgeous inside and the log-fire made it feel really homely, it was my particular highlight! It also has Sky TV, free Wi-Fi and most everything you could need to cook up a storm in the kitchen. If you don't fancy cooking, there's a lot of fantastic country pubs within walking and driving distance. The location makes it feel just isolated enough that it helps your sense of escape, but you're within easy driving distance of larger towns and cities like Crewe and Stoke. Can't recommend this place highly enough and the owners are warm, friendly people. We will definitely be coming back! :-)

We stayed at the Old Smithy for two nights this week. I can't fault it at all, the whole cottage is kept at a very high standard. The cottage is spacious and cosy at the same time. There are many extra special touches thorough out the house. Great location and plenty of things to do. We can't wait to arrange next visit.

The Old Smithy provided an excellent base for our 4 night New Year break. Cosy and warm, everything in the cottage was to a really high standard, spacious and spotless. The owners, Eileen and Graham were extremely welcoming and helpful. The cottage was close to Bridgemere Garden Centre and the market town of Nantwich, as well as the interesting cities of Chester and Shrewsbury, with a number of superb gastro pubs in the area. Highly recommended.

“Wow! 5 star accommodation that has everything you need to have a relaxing break in beautiful rural Cheshire.”

As we pulled into the rustic courtyard of this gorgeous period property we were warmly welcomed by the owners Eileen and Graham. Throughout our weekend stay they were wonderfully helpful in advising us on places to visit that we would never have thought of ourselves. Two must sees were Shrewsbury and Nantwich.
More importantly the cottage is a perfect rural retreat and is a chocolate box of a building . A former smithy that has been transformed into a two bed roomed country holiday home with very high end fixtures and fittings. We arrived on a cold dark November evening to be met by a roaring log fire that filled the building with a glowing warmth that set the tone for our stay. Needless to say the red wine was soon at the perfect temperature and our relaxing weekend was off to a great start. The quality of everything in this accommodation is truly 5 star and a credit to the owners imagination and taste. There are a number of really nice Restaurants within a short distance that serve great gastro food at reasonable prices which meant that we never had the chance to fully utilise the well equipped and large dining kitchen which boasts a large double cooking range . We will save that treat until our next visit.!
