The Old Smithy provided an excellent base for our 4 night New Year break. Cosy and warm, everything in the cottage was to a really high standard, spacious and spotless. The owners, Eileen and Graham were extremely welcoming and helpful. The cottage was close to Bridgemere Garden Centre and the market town of Nantwich, as well as the interesting cities of Chester and Shrewsbury, with a number of superb gastro pubs in the area. Highly recommended.

As we pulled into the rustic courtyard of this gorgeous period property we were warmly welcomed by the owners Eileen and Graham. Throughout our weekend stay they were wonderfully helpful in advising us on places to visit that we would never have thought of ourselves. Two must sees were Shrewsbury and Nantwich.
More importantly the cottage is a perfect rural retreat and is a chocolate box of a building . A former smithy that has been transformed into a two bed roomed country holiday home with very high end fixtures and fittings. We arrived on a cold dark November evening to be met by a roaring log fire that filled the building with a glowing warmth that set the tone for our stay. Needless to say the red wine was soon at the perfect temperature and our relaxing weekend was off to a great start. The quality of everything in this accommodation is truly 5 star and a credit to the owners imagination and taste. There are a number of really nice Restaurants within a short distance that serve great gastro food at reasonable prices which meant that we never had the chance to fully utilise the well equipped and large dining kitchen which boasts a large double cooking range . We will save that treat until our next visit.!
