We had long wanted to see the lambing at Reaseheath and purchased a joint ticket for lambing and the zoo. Perhaps visiting the zoo alone is different, however we were unsure how to get there from the lambing and generally just followed the crowd! However, this was the only real down point.
The animals are all looked after as part of the students' courses, and the enclosures and cages are as you would expect from such a well-regarded establishment. Our group had wondered if the 'zoo' would basically be just farm animals, however there were a number of different animals, including otters, meerkats, monkeys and tortoises.
Whilst the zoo is clearly based around the teaching of the pupils, it is well laid out and informative for visitors. It does lack any sort of refreshments, but bearing in mind this is a temporary attraction, I can live with that! For the price paid, a good attraction that puts some permanent zoos to shame!
