“2nd visit and even better”
Reviewed March 26, 2012

This was our second visit to rookery hall, using one of the summer special deals and I have to say again WOW!

This place lives up to all expectations and more, and considering we got dinner, bed and breakfast for a little under £135 (slightly more to be fair as we picked menu choices with supplements) we certainly could not complain.

Room spacious, clean and well appointed (reading the complimentary Cheshire life magazine is always a treat to see how the other half live) and the spa is outstanding, especially the huge hydro pool.

Restaurant. Good to see Perry the waiter again and a few other familiar faces. Service, as usual second to non, lots of little touches that make it a league above most and the food was amazing, perfectly cooked, well presented and over all exceptionally tasty - fantastic effort put in by everyone.

Breakfast, stunning, lots of choice and plenty available. Highly recommended.

And a special little treat (for the wife) was the presence of stoke city football team tucking into a pre match breakfast - the silver chrome plated Aston Martin in the car park gave it away.... Big compliment to the hotel staff for hiding them away so well and with very little fuss.

Look forward to the next deal and the next visit.

I only booked this the night before & was very pleasantly surprised. Fantastic value including a superb evening meal. Lovely venue. attentive staff & 5 star food. (The head waiter even turned up the restaurant lights, so we could read the menu!} I was dissapointed the spa had no available treatment appointments but will book earlier next time. Will definately return and would recommend to anyone.

My boyfriend and I went to Rookery Hall as part of the Secret Escapes deal. £140 for dinner, bed and breakfast for the pair of us. We both thought the food was excellent and the Holly on reception was very accommodating by taking our order over the phone as we thought we might arrive a little late. The bedroom was large, bathroom was gorgeous, the bed comfortable and all in all we were very happy customers. Should we go again (I hope we do), then we'd make more of an event of it and use the spa facilities etc. The staff were helpful and friendly without being stuffy. I don't think I've given any other hotel an excellent but this is deserved.

Room Tip: We were in 311 which was at the end of a corridor (favourite place for me as no passing traffic).

My husband wanted to give me a birthday treat(prompted by me) and a long trawl through the internet found a late break at Rookery Hall at a good price. The staff from check in to check out were professional and friendly, and helped all they could to make a good hotel into an excellent stay. The food ,on an included bases, was excellent and very tasty. The wating staff made using the menu easy so that a much larger bill was not presented at the end.
While there i had a tranqullity massage ,and now 3 days later I am just waking up. It was the best massage that I have had.

We stayed for a relaxing weekend recently before my wife gives birth to our first child. Almost everything was lovely - the location, the rooms, the spa - the one downside was the food. We ordered room service and the when it arrived it looked pitiful. It wasn't exactly complex - caesar salad, portion of chips and ice cream - so should have been easy to do well and present well. Sadly quite the opposite, we got around 6 overly done chips in a bowl (that was a portion apparently) and the ice cream was fully melted by the time it reached it. Its such a shame as something as simple as that represents the brand and demonstrates the sheer lack of respect the owners/managers must have for their guests.

We told the receptionist upon leaving, she said the chef will be shocked as he prides himself on food quality and she will look into it, we await their findings with baited breath. If they really do care about brand quality and customer loyalty they should address this as its easily fixed.

Hello,

Thank you for your constructive feedback on a room service meal experience.

I was really disappointed to read your feedback and am sorry you had to write it. Your experience is certainly not the norm and certainly does not reflect my respect for my guests at all. I hope this is born out by my feedback over the last 12 months to all reviewers.

It is really a shame that this one incident weights so heavily on your scoring bearing in mind you positive feedback about all other aspects of the break.

Apart from this incident it sounds like you had a relaxing visit and I note your comments that almost everything else was lovely (location, rooms, and spa).

Rest assured a full review of our Room service standards has taken place to ensure this type of incident never happens again,

Kindest regards

Stephen

I have started to use the Handpicked hotels mainly because of the (very reasonably priced high quality hotels) and the consistent..professional yet friendly service . Rookery Hall did not disappoint...I stayed there with my daughter for mothers day and it was just what was needed as my daughter is in remission from a chronic illness. The spa area was lovely... the pool was a lot bigger than in most hotels too. The hydrotherapy pool was relaxing . Although it was quite busy it did not feel too crowded as there was a steam and sauna room (both equally fantastic!) to use. The whole area was spotlessly clean I think I even saw the manager going round picking bit of stuff up from the floor!. I liked the spa so much my boyfreind and I are returning for a pamper day in a couple of weeks...and definately be returning with freinds for a chill out day.
The room was lovely we had a executive room overlooking the fields...very quiet and peaceful. lovely soft beds ...bathrobes.... fabulous bathroom with a tv over the bath(although could not get it to work) the shower had little massage jets aswell. A little fridge and when I called for some milk it came almost straight away.

The restaurant was a little bit chaotic probably because it was busy but the staff were freindly.. after a slight confusion over some wine the manager was very apologetic and could not do enough for us....because of his lovely attitude this slight oversight would not stop me from returning and eating there. The food was delicious as well.... I had the beef(very tender) and my daughter had the chicken(that as totally sublime) she also had the chocolate plate(for chocolate lovers this is a must even with the small supplement)!

All in all...a wonderful time was had by both of us

Room Tip: i had an executive room at the back of the new block...the views were lovely and it was so quiet nev...
