“Superb food”
Reviewed March 10, 2012

We went for our first time to Aroi Thai in the evening – superb food, we opted for a set menu, to avoid having to make choices. Set menu C was £24.95 each, for 4 courses, although the last course was tea or coffee! – just as well, as the portions were generous! The set menu mixed starter was superb -marinated charcoal grilled chicken in Thai spices served with peanut sauce, deep-fried marinated prawns wrapped in a light pastry, deep-fried minced prawn and chicken on toast, sprinkled with sesame seeds served with Thai sweet chilli sauce, roasted spare ribs marinated in Thai spices, coriander root and honey, and deep-fried spring rolls, filled with vegetables and vermicelli, all served with Thai sauces. Then, for the second course, we had Tom Kha Gai a Thai hot and sour coconut soup with mushrooms, and lots of flavours of generous Thai herbs mixed with coconut milk with a touch of chilli oil – I noticed lemon, with your choice of chicken or prawns. The third course, the main course, was 4 dishes, a mild creamy Thai curry dish, made with potatoes simmered in coconut milk with ground peanuts and topped with deep fried onions, with your choice of beef or lamb (we had beef – chewy!), deep fried lightly battered fillet of fish topped with three flavour sauce, chicken with spring onion, peppers, tomatoes in red wine sauce served on a flaming sizzling platter and wok cooked bean sprouts, spinach and seasonal vegetables in oyster sauce. We particularly liked the battered fish and the bean sprouts and spinach, and finally, green or jasmine tea.
Our table though was not in the best position, right at the back of the restaurant, next to the back doors out to the smoking area, and just near to the gents, and not well lit. Perhaps we have to go a few more times! The service though was very good, friendly and attentive – our waitress was a lovely Thai girl, now married to a Crewe man, and living there. We will be back!!
I would have given 5 stars if our table had been better placed!

“Excellent value at lunchtime lovely decor!”
Reviewed March 10, 2012

Do try the lunch menu fantastic value for money. The decor is fabulous and during the food festival they hosted a stunning demonstration of vegetable carving - a spray of delicate orchids carved from a swede.

“Fab tasty Thai”
Reviewed March 6, 2012

Visited here on a Wednesday evening to celebrate my daughters birthday. Booked ahead to be sure of a table, didn't need to in the end but best to be certain. Food was very tasty, 3 of us had the spring rolls to start whilst another had the king prawns in sesame seeded batter all came with sweet chilli dip - have to say it was fabulous. The prawn crackers were also very nice and topped up without request. As for mains, two of us had sweet and sour chicken with vermicelli noodles, one had stir fried beef in chilli with sticky rice whilst another had a vegetarian dish in chilli sauce. It all tasted really great and was reasonably priced - not the cheapest but you certainly didn't mind paying for quality. Would return.

“Must be tried”
Reviewed February 17, 2012

Both my partner and I have visited this restaurant on our own and with friends and family on many occations. The food is the best Thai food I have eaten outside of Thailand.

We believe the reason this restaurant is so popular and such a success is down to the restaurant Manager Joe. Joe is very attentive to all his customers and always greets you with a big smile and a shake of the hand. He instantly remembers us on every occation we have been even our drink orders. Well done Joe and the team.
