We visited the White Bear twice on our canal holiday when we stopped over in Middlewich. We spent a couple of hours each time just eating, relaxing and reading the extensive selection of papers. Staff were very good (Ceri/Carry? was very pleasant and friendly). We were told what our choices would be like (homemade, large portion or not etc). The fish in beer batter was excellent and the homemade burger was a little dry but plenty of it.
Put a lock on the men's cubicle door and everyone'd be happy.
HIghly recommended for a pub lunch and relaxing atmosphere.

Stopped by on spec on a Friday night and bar area really busy but managed to get a nice table in the resturant area for dinner. Good choice on the menu and food was delicious - can recommend the sea bass and barnsley chop. Service was very good and we were very glad we stopped by.

Been here a few times now and always had a lovely meal. Prices are very reasonable and portions are plentiful. Surroundings are very rustic. Staff are very pleasant too. Located in the centre of middlewich so easy access to shops and other pubs and eating places. Manager very helpful as are his members of staff.

Me and my partner recently had lunch at the Bear. I have to say, for the price of the items we chose, the food was presented poorly and the taste left in the mouth was one of "poor value". The waitress was very pleasant, but the service was painfully slow - and that was with only a few customers present at the time ! As we left, it did make us nervous about returning in the future for an evening meal - where we would be obviously spending more.

Menu looked reasonable but food presented poorly. Although the meals were edible that was about the best you can say about them. Our waitress was overwhelmed and left us with meals finished and no offer of puddings. She had however been told to tout for drinks.
