Description: Pull up at Middlewich’s Sandhurst Hotel, home of Hudson’s Restaurant, and you could be mistaken for thinking you’ve been invited to a middle class dinner party. With little signage, no neon lights and the very pleasant facade of an Edwardian family home, this is a million miles from your average hotel or restaurant. Inside the homely feel continues with plush carpeting and curtains, Chesterfield sofas in the bar and not-too-ostentatious chandeliers overhead. Only the Edwardian costumed waiting staff give the game away. The menu continues the ruse, true British ingredients make up hearty meals, but the dishes have something of an edge over your average suburban dinner party.

We just couldn't imagine going anywhere else for Mother's Day!
The 3 course lunch was £12.99 - a bargain if you ask me and the food was delicious (although we did have a couple of niggles which were aired at the time hence 4 stars instead of 5!)
That said I would recommend The Sandhurst without a second thought and Rowena and her staff are always very attentive and they make everyone feel very welcome.

Last wednesday we had a wonderful meal at the Hudsons Restaurant to celebrate my wife's retirement. The food was superb and the experience was so much enhanced by the staff who were fun, engaged with the customers and overall made it the complete dining experience that I could not fault. This was my second visit in the last few weeks and my experience was exactly the same on my first visit.I cannot recommend this restaurant high enough for a great evening out and hope to return in the near future

2013 was our 3rd New Year Eve at the Sandhurst, and it continues to excel. The champagne reception set the tone for the evening ahead (with tasty canapés), From past experience dinner has always been good value, but this time the chef excelled, and the "game pie" with whisky sauce was unbeatable. Our fellow diners all agreed this was the business. In between courses we were suitably entertained by a Shirley Bassey tribute act, and a fabulous firework display after Auld Lang Syne topped it off...actually not quite, the chef brought out a bacon butties in the wee small hours...they smelt sooooo good could not resist..
This was a great and memorable experience.... difficult for the Sandhurst to top next time???

Firstly, can we say that we were in the bar area on Saturday evening and we witnessed the incident reported by reviewer Shazfal. The hostess dealt with the situation very professionally. The gentleman was extremely rude and embarrassed her, her staff and her other diners.

The couple were on a deal voucher and had apparently contacted the restaurant at the last minute and insisted that they were given a table as their voucher was due to expire. A booking had been taken but they had been told that they would need to leave their table by a certain time as the restaurant was fully booked by diners who had booked well in advance.

We arrived at 6.45 pm for our 7.00 pm booking and the couple were just walking back from the local Morrisons (shopping bags in hand). We entered the bar area to find the couple seated with a drink and their menus. The hostess asked if they were on a voucher deal and the gentleman said yes. She asked for his voucher and he responded quite sharpely that it was in his jacket and someone would have to get it for him.

The couple were then asked for their menu choices and the hostess bent down to discreetly remind them that they needed to vacate their table by 8.00 pm due to the restaurant being fully booked that evening. This was when the couple kicked off advising that they hadn't been advised in advance that they would need to vacate their table. The gentleman then started shouting at the hostess and the couple got up and went into the hall area. The hostess tried to calm the situation down by calmly explaining the situation and what they had been told when making their booking, but the couple weren't having any of it. We then heard the man shout at one of the young waitresses, which really wasn't called for.

The couple were offered a full refund and left shouting that they would be posting a poor review on TripAdvisor.

The whole incident was totally uncalled for and was an embarrassment for everyone who witnessed it.

We have visited Hudson's on a couple of occasions now and have found the hostess and her team very friendly, welcoming and hard working.

They really do go out of their way to give all dinners an "experience". The food is really nice and is served fresh, which may mean that you have to wait between courses whilst other's are having their's prepared.

We'd happily recommend Hudsons to our family and friends. We can't wait to go back again. Maybe next time we will try one of the many theme nights that they offer.

Don't be put off by Shazfal's review. Hopefully when you visit the "cabaret tag team" won't be booked in. Try the "experience" for yourself. They are currently advertising a deal on the local voucher sites. You won't be disappointed. If you want a plastic pub meal or a cheap curry house, avoid this place. It's not a place for a family meal, as kids just wouldn't get it. But if you want service, good plentiful food and a couples atmosphere this place is for you.

Thanks to all at Hudson's for a couple of wonderful evenings.
