“Very impressed!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2013

Stayed here for one night on the 16th feb 2013. I do agree that as you enter the hotel the entrance is a little dated however we were very impressed with our room, it was immaculate and very modern! The staff and the owners made us feel very welcome, the service and breakfast we received was fantastic!! We would certainly stay here again.

My 2nd stay at this hotel now and left with the same view as previous stay. Firstly its situated at a busy junction and the windows dont cut out the sounmd of the many passing lorries. My room was directly above the kitchens and pool room so i heard band practise upto 9pm then the music from the jukebox to 12am!! The smell of grease from the kitchems was very strong which made me feel dirtier when I come out the broken shower than before I went in!! The room was average but had no clean towels in. Tv was a relic. breakfast I chose to give it a miss as last time it waqs served up by the cleaner re heated!! I asked for some fresh fruit to go .... they had none!!! The locals at the bar were not the most friendly either. I ordered foood in the evening - a rib eye steak , it came to me as a sirloin . I questioned this then was told they had no rib eye left. I think they were hoping I wouldnt notice.

Generaly avoid this place at all cost's and book inthe hotel right next door - much cleaner and generally a more pleasant hotel!!

Was a bit alarmed on our arrival as the public area was very tired and dingy. However the rooms were clean and bathroom excellent. There was no food evening food available, ' as there were no staff' and we were not informed of this on our arrival earlier in the day. Breakfast was well cooked although served on cold plates and the tea and coffee were also luke warm. Staff pleasant.

Room Tip: Although Room 4 bathroom was very good, the decor and furniture were dingy.

The staff were very welcoming and the room and bathroom exceeded our expectations for a pub. We ate well at the hotel next door and then toasted ourselves in front of the fire and enjoying excellent ale and eavesdropping on the locals who were deeply engaged in putting the world to rights. Very handy for walking along the Trent and Mersey canal.

I stayed at the Boars head a few months back and found it to be a fairly average B&B. The rooms were ok however you have to trudge through the bar with your suitcases passing by the customers and then try to get the attention of the bar staff in order to get the room key.

The bar also allows dogs inside which is a bit off personally. Breakfast was average and not very good.

Decor of the pub was a bit dated and during weekdays can be noisy as the rooms are directly above the bar.

My room also overlooked the main road and was extremely noisy with heavy trucks rolling by at all times of the day making there way into the industrial estate.

You can dine in the pub however it was a bit hit and miss when at times the staff would ask you to go over to the Kinderton (next door) to have your evening meal.

As i said it is ok for one night in an emergency but there is certainly better options in Middlewich.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the beer garden as i imagine it would be a little quieter however in the...

Enjoyed my stay. The rooms are excellant. The hall decor is a bit dated but i suspect the owner is working on modernising it. I was a bit anxious when i arrived as its a pub but that was soon removed by the nice easy going and friendly staff. The breakfast was top notch and without any delay. I was doing a course at spanset which is situated in the industrial estate about half a mile up the road. The free wifi was a nice touch too. There is good parking at the rear for vehicles.

Friendly staff.. Great old pub atmosphere downstairs.. Clean comfortable spacious room upstairs. Spent 2 nights relaxing after canal boat trip. Took 1 point off because someone nearby was smoking all night probably wasn't suppose to be.
