The room I stayed in overlooked the lovely garden, and was very peaceful and quiet. The room was beautifully decorated, clean and cosy, with a very comfortable bed and pristine bed linen. The en-suite was impeccably clean with great modern facilities. I can't fault it in any way, and only wish I could have stayed longer.

We pulled into this hotel on a cold, wet & miserable day by accident, what a find! From the minute we arrived we were welcomed by the manager & staff, nothing was too much trouble. The room was very comfortable and warm, the food was scrumptious, the beds were comfortable, the bathroom seriously contained possibly the best hotel shower I have ever had, breakfast was wonderful and we didn't have to check out until 11.00am which is a novelty for we Aussies! All round a fabulous experience and given the opportunity we will return!

Found this place on laterooms and booked on the strenght of previous reviews. From the moment they answered my call and took my booking, till i checked out the staff were fautless in everyway. Polite, punctual and professional.
Room(18 which is a seperate building to the hotel) was warm, clean and had all the usual amenities you would expect today. Bathroom had probably the best shower i have used anywhere, not the usual hot cold dribble you get in a lot of places.
Breakfast is equally as good with plenty of choice for anyone. Full english was delicious, good portions and well presented. We did use the resturant on one evening. I had pan fried duck and my girlfriend chose the belly pork. Both loved our meals and just had enough room for deserts, which were equally as good as the mains.A credit to the chef.
The bar/lounge area is a good size with some nice sofas to relax in and plan youre next days events,or just put youre feet up and rest from a busy day.
For those who want to explore by foot, the train station is a 10min walk from the hotel for the fit and able. You can drive to the station where it cost 80p to park. From here you can buy a day travel ticket (from a real person not a machine). ThIs gives you free use of the buses and trains all day, which gives you access to chester, liverpool and as far north as southport for under a fiver.
Sum it up a fantastic place, great location and fab staff.

Thank you for your review, our cottages rooms are very well thought of, and they are really nice as they overlook our victorian walled garden. You are spot on with the trains as its a great route and its only a 10 minute walk from the hotel and you can go direct to Liverpool or Chester.

Thank you again and hope to see you soon.

This is a late review as my Husband and I stayed and had our wedding reception here last August Bank Holiday, and it was FABULOUS!
From our first meeting to enquire about our wedding, we knew this was the place we wanted for our small informal wedding.
To me, it felt like home when you walk in the door and you're always greeted by friendly staff.
Dealing with Katie all through the wedding preparation was easy as she is so lovely, understanding and über helpful!
On the day of and leading up to the wedding, Katie and the staff went out of her way to help make our wedding the best it could be. We had family staying at the hotel the week of the wedding, my Husband stayed over the night before the wedding and we all obviously stayed over the night of the wedding. On the day of the wedding, Katie did a great job of calming my Husband-to-be down especially when the cakes hadn't arrived on time. This type of service would not be given by a huge chain hotel!
The day of the wedding ran smoothly, the home made food was delicious and the Peach Bellini was yum! The breakfast the morning after was lovely and enough to set you up for the day. The restaurant is clean, decorated to a high standard and is a lovely size.
The menu (even though we didn't dine at night) sounds amazing and on one of our wedding meetings, we passed customers leaving after lunch and heard them saying how delicious the food was.
The rooms are all decorated to a high standard, some of them are smaller than others but that adds to the cozy feel. The Budoir is lovely and big and the bed is HUGE and very comfortable.
All in all, a great hotel, genuine friendly staff, lovely home made food.......and we will be back again!

Room Tip: If you like HUGE comfy beds.....book The Budoir!

I have stayed here a few times. It's a lovely family run hotel. Everything here is lovely from the rooms to the food and staff. Nothing is too much for the staff wether its extra towels or a certain type of tea. I would recommend this hotel to everyone

Stayed here for two nights the food is excellent as was the service and helpfulness of all the staff. Our room was small but cosy with a good hospitality tray with good sized mugs! We will certainly return if we need accommodation in this area again. A must is to visit the Lady Lever Art Gallery and have a walk round Port Sunlight
