I dont do reviews but this was an exception - This was my first stay at Woodcote and I will definitely be returning. The rooms were clean and well decorated, with attention to detail spot on. It gets silly when the only thing to moan about is no soap for the shower ! Although very pleasant fixed shampoo and conditioner is provided. The food both at evening dinner and breakfast was very good indeed.
Sally was very hospitable and the team there very good, warm and attentive
Well done Woodcote.

From the moment my wife and I walked into the hotel we were made very welcome with a disarming smile and professional attentiveness from John.
He showed us to our room (and carried some of our baggage) where we were pleasantly surprised by the space, comfort and huge bed. The bathroom was large, affording space for generous bath and separate enclosed shower.
Down for dinner and our pleasures really took off. The restaurant was inviting and comfortable with a large number of humerous water colours by two different artists, mostly based around the hospitality trade. Our three courses were superbly cooked and presented by young staff who were friendly and professional. John was on hand to help decide on wine choice, the Chilean Merlot went well with our steaks.
After a nightcap, time for bed and it was such a good sleep for us both. I was a tad concerned beforehand about how hard the mattress seemed but, wow, no problems dropping off and we felt refreshed in the morning.
Breakfast was a good start to the day with a decent choice of items to choose from and rounded off our stay nicely.

Room Tip: Ask for The Boudoir.

My wife and I stayed here because we had such a great stay after a Christmas party in December and always said we would like to stay there again.

The first time we stayed in one of the cottages at the back of the hotel and they were lovely - secluded and romantic. We did get a little cold in the middle of the night and the owner brought us a portable radiator and this was at 2.40am!

We only live a mile or so from the hotel and the second time we stayed was on the day before the Grand National (we just like to get a break from our kids!) so it was fully booked for the races and we were put in a room in the main house but again, it was fantastic...comfortable, roomy and clean.

We didn't eat in the hotel as we decided to have a few drinks in Chimneys pub (turn right outside the hotel and walk about 5 minutes and the pub is across the road past the traffic lights and it does great food and speciality beers) and then we went for an indian meal at a restaurant in Ellesmere Port (a £7 cab ride).

Breakfast is cooked to order, coffee is unlimited as is the juice and the room you eat in is beautiful - clean, fresh and airy.

All in all, this is a fantastic hotel and if anything, the owners are undercharging because we would definitely pay more.
This really is an undiscovered gem and miles better than any of the chain hotels in Liverpool and Chester (and I have stayed in every single one of them for my business)

Enjoyed two nights here. Room was freshly decorated, loved to chat with the friendly helpful staff. Ate in one night and wished it could have been both as the food was excellent. One very small complaint - did not enjoy plastic mattress cover on the bed, would have removed it if we had stayed any longer.
Will return and recommend to friends and family.

Room Tip: If in a garden room ask for an upstairs one

We stayed as we were visiting Ellesmere Port Boat museum it was 10 mins drive away, the room we had was very clean and comfortable and tastefully furnished, with the exception of the first room we were given which was the Bourdoir, this was above the kitchen and the extractor fan was really loud so we asked to be moved, even the though room was beautiful it would not have been good for relaxing in, if you were not in the room till later then it would have been great, the receptionist was very accomodating and we were moved. This was the only negative and we would stay again.

We had planned to stay at the woodcote for one night only as it was near to the appointments we had in Liverpool and Lymm. We ended up staying two nights instead of heading back to London the next day and were pleased we did. The rooms are large, modern and very clean: the beds extremely comfortable. The bar is very handy and modern with unsurpassed service. You feel as though you’re the only people in the room and nothing is too much trouble: a real breath of fresh air. The dining room is well laid out and the food prepared freshly and it comes out piping hot straight from the kitchen. The service is professional with personality just like the French they do it so well and it seems effortless. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who understands value for money.
