“Fantastic place to stay for zoo or shopping- great for kids”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2013 via mobile

We stayed here for one night. After a long journey and a bit of bargain shopping we needed somewhere u chill. The staff were very helpful and the room was good, clean and spacious. Good view of the canals. We took little one to the pool, again staff were very helpful. This helped to amuse and tire out little one before dinner. We ate at restaurant, great deal of kids eat free. Food was excellent and brought out quickly. We would definitely stay here again. Only ten mins away from zoo so great location.

We arrived super early on the Friday morning and decided to chance an early check-in. Unfortunately, there was no rooms ready but the lady at Reception was so nice & explained that we could use the Leisure Centre while we waited and also told me how to find Cheshire Oaks.
We headed off to the Oaks for breakfast and then had a wander around the shops. For someone who doesn't even like shopping, I thought it was a good spot. There are play areas, a good selection of restaurants & cafes, a Sainsburys and plenty of bargains. There is also a huge retail park called the Coliseum to the back of the Oaks and here you can find even more restaurants, a cinema and bowling alley. The taxi fare is very reasonable from the hotel.
We got back to the hotel at midday and we were allocated a room on the third floor, with a lovely view of the canal. We booked a room with a Double Bed and Sofa Bed for our 5 year old..it was super clean and spacious. I would certainly book the same room again.
The bar was 'expensive', as most hotel bars are. The girl who managed the bar (I think her name was Yasmin or Jasmine-sorry!) was very hard working and friendly.
On the second day, Kasia at Reception was extremely helpful with directions and getting us a taxi later on. We went to visit Wales early on in the day, then in to Ellesmere Port to explore the market (but it would have been best to come earlier in the day).
The area around the hotel is quiet and it's nice to take a walk around the canal area. Overall, I would certainly book this hotel again and would recommend it!

My wife was a guest at a work colleagues wedding recently and the wedding breakfast was held at the Holiday Inn. The food was fantastic and the staff were very polite and professional. The only downside to the hotel is it's location ( built next to the boat museum) therefore it is not recommended to take small children for Health and Safety reasons due to the volume of open water.

Stayed here in May one night, as my wife had organised a family meal at a nearby South African Restaurant. Hotel is nicely situated on the canal basin. Rooms do look a little tired but were spotless nevertheless. had the master suite which was huge. The breakfast selection in the morning was superb and the full English was excellent. Bar was very expensive though and the draft ale didn't taste vey good. Staff helpful and always had a smile. The gym was just across the bridge from the main hotel building but we didn't go in so cant comment. Would we stay here again...yes if we got the same sort of deal we had this time round.

We stay in Holiday Inn's frequently but this stands out for all the wrong reasons.
The staff were extremely welcoming but the general decor looks very tired and cheap. The wood tables in the dining area were stucky to the touch, probably due to wear and could do with a deep scrub. The bathroom sink and bed duvet were well past their best.
Very close to the outlets which is what we were looking for, but sadly a poor location for other amenities.
No complimentary breakfast either - a first in our experience. No notice at reception to 3rd floor guests that the vending machines are on 1st and 2nd floors
Wouldnt recommend this hotel. Will be back to to holiday inn in chester the next time we visit.

Just got back from a another weekend at The Holiday Inn in Ellesmere Port, this will be our 4th visit, and can't wait until we get the opportunity to visit this well run establishment. It was a wonderful experience from arriving until leaving, Met by the very effecient receptionists, as always were pleasant and made you feel very comfortable, always had a smile on their faces, and they always greeted you when passing, The bedroom was very comfortable, and could not fault it in anyway, had everything you needed to make it a pleasant stay, We only had breakfast at the hotel, but that was above my expectations, the quality of the food was amazing, no cutting back on quality, and plenty of it, also all the staff were very friendly, always making
sure you had everything that you wanted for breakfast, The hotel was in a good location right on the water,
with barges parked outside the restaurant. Cheshire Oaks is definately worth a visit, make sure you take plenty
of money as there are a lot of bargains to be had. We visited a nice steak restaurant called Miller & Carter which was close to the designer village, best steak I have ever tasted, you need to book though as they get very busy.
Liverpool was a nice city to visit, and we found it easier to drive to Hooton railway station, park the car then jump on the train, the train drops you right in the center. The train fare was £3.95 return and the car park was
just 80p for the whole day, the trains run every 15 minutes, much easier than trying to drive to Liverpool, unless you know the area. Definately book this hotel if you want to have a nice weekend away. We would of stayed longer if we could.

Stayed for one night after a shopping trip - perfectly located for cheshire oaks, chester zoo and aquarium. Room very nice; bathroom clean and bed comfortable. Breakfast very good, hot, fresh and plentiful. Made use of the pool and sauna facilities, relaxing after a long day and refreshing after a good sleep. Lovely surroundings overlooking canal and locks. Will definitely stay again when in the area.
