Stayed overnight alone here on work trip, the room was spotless and the staff in breakfast and bar top notch. Will stay here again hopefully in the future. The scenery is nice too next to the old dock, very nice indeed.

We used this hotel as a base on a visit to the area, while the actual location of the hotel is nice (on the canal and by the Museum) the surrounding area is not so nice, Industrial and a bit run down.
Check in was slower than most other hotels due to the Debit /Credit card verification thing.

We had an accessible room and found the kitchen extractor outside our window a bit noisy, and the bathroom was not very clean, but apart from that the room was fine for one night.

We decided to go into Chester for a meal in the evening and on returning all the car park spaces (not just the disabled ones) where full, this meant dropping my wife at the door and leaving her in the wheelchair while i went to park the car in a very dodgy looking lane away from the hotel.

We weren't tempted to have breakfast so can't comment on that, it was ok but we wouldn't return.

Dear Keefo60,

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your stay. It is unfortunate the noise levels, and parking availability prevented you from fully enjoying your time at the hotel. We are confident the necessary adjustments will be made, in order to achieve complete guest satisfaction.

Thank you again for your comments, we look forward to serving you in the future.

Sincerely,

Ben J

Have just returned from a five day stay and can only say a huge thank you to the wonderful staff. Our room was lovely but minor niggle - as an accessible room it means no drawer space so bit hard to store clothes. We had a beautiful view over the canal- really pretty. The food was excellent both breakfast & evening meals. A minor incident with a power cut was dealt with very well by the staff especially when dealing with a very difficult client. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable stay and we would not hesitate to return.

We really like the location of this hotel: it's not beautiful, tucked in among industrial buildings and warehouses, but it's very interesting, surrounded by canal basins and looking out to the Canal Museum, with the Manchester Ship Canal also close by. The hotel itself has been well converted from a warehouse, and bedrooms are well designed and a reasonable size. The mattress on our bed was however rather too firm.

The staff are particularly good here, being friendly and helpful. The breakfast was also good, although it was busy, with people queuing on the Sunday morning we were there.

Overall, our room rate was very reasonable.

Stayed one night in room 319 on Sunday 21st July on their 'Shop till you Drop' offer. Room was o.k. but had a couple of badly misted double glazed windows, but the view over the canal and Museum was good. The 3 course evening meal was good as was the breakfast, although as it was 9am when we ate the breakfast the self service bacon and black pudding was a little firm having been under the heated lights. (I am sure it is difficult to get it right). The staff were exceptional and very helpful. Not too sure that the 'Shop till you drop' (10% discount voucher for purchases at Cheshire Oaks) would entice me back as it was only at certain outlets and not on sale items. (Most stores had a sale). Perhaps a Bed Breakfast and Evening meal deal would be a better option unless you know what you want from the shopping centre. Would I stay again or recommend the hotel? Yes, My wife and I enjoyed it and no doubt will stay in the future.

I stayed on 15th July for 2 nights. The reason I choose this hotel is because of its location near Blue Aquarium and Chester Outlet therefore the location wise is great for me. I did did some research on tripadvisor and would agree with other reviewer about the friendliness of the staff. They go extra miles to solve my problem and helping with my questions.
Had problem with the air condition and reported it to the reception. The duty manager came up with me to solve the problem. He said someone changed the setting to heating instead of air condition. He help to change it back.
The only con would be the amenities or the lack of it in room are below the average standard of a 4 star hotel.

We attended a wedding on Friday 19th July at the Holiday Inn, Ellesmere Port and treated us to a nights stay at the hotel.
We were greeted at reception by a very professional, friendly lady and the process was made very easy. We were located on the 1st floor in room 131 and had a very nice view from the window of water, narrow boats and even the odd fisherman. We didn't hear any noise from any other guests and the room itself had everything we needed. Tea making facilities, hair dryer etc etc. The room was clean and tidy and nicely presented and we had an excellent nights sleep in our very comfortable beds. Only one small thing, we booked a family room which is a double bed and sofa bed. When the sofa bed was pulled out there was no room to sit at the dressing table or open/close the window and it was a bit of a pain to keep having to fold it in and out each time you wanted to get by.
Breakfast was included in our stay and is served from 07:30 until 11:00. It is a buffet style breakfast, pastries, cereal, fruit and cooked breakfasts all available with tea, coffee and fresh juices. One of the best breakfasts we have had at a hotel.
We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in the area and the fact it is located just off the motorway makes it ideal for visiting Chester or Liverpool.
Thank you to all at the Holiday Inn, not only did we thoroughly enjoy the wedding we attended but also had a very enjoyable stay too!
