Excellent central location for Liverpool and Chester. Quiet area and short walk to train station for central Liverpool (ticket office closed Sat-Sun, use machine on platform). Rooms and bathrooms very clean and reasonably spacious (we had two dbl beds in ours so not much spare space to move about but couple travelling with had just dbl and loads of room available). Beds comfy (although I found it a little hard) good choice of pillows. Lighting in our room was quirky! Couldn't have just bedside without standard lamp on or one or other bedside light on on its own, weird! Pool and gym in separate building (a little disappointing but can't comment on those as didn't use them). Lounge area is nice with bar open for cash till 11pm, room charges after that (have to open for room charging at check-in), think the sofas and chairs could do with a clean (myself and one other were bitten either there or in bed). Breakfast was great, good selection of cooked, cereal, fruit, breads (for toast), pastries and juice in buffet style (although they did seem rushed to keep up with demand, maybe need more staff?) Tea and coffee supplied to the table by very friendly staff. All staff very friendly and helpful.
Myself and our co-travellers would come here again and would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: We were on floor two on south side, seemed quiet.

What a great hotel, and sorry, but what a surprise.
I had supposed that, given the title Cheshire Oaks the hotel would be located on the shopping park that shares the name...but no. A short drive from the motorway into..er..well let's say what appeared to be a less than salubrious area of town and suddenly here is this jewel of a hotel. Access to the hotel is over a narrow bridge that brings you to what appears to be former canal warehousing that has been transformed into a lovely modern hotel.
The hotel is located between the motorway (M53) and the Manchester Ship Canal (I know, I know, but honestly, trust me...) and is set on a virtual island surrounded by a canal basin on which are moored a number of narrow boats, with a canal museum located close by and a number of craft shops and other outlets (didn't use them so can't comment on them other than to say they are there).
The staff were without exception wonderful, helpful, and welcoming. Customer service isn't just a course they sit through here, it actually seems to be central to the way that they all approach their roles.
The restaurant is on the ground floor, the food is very good, the staff are great and the view, across the basin is brilliant for a history buff like me. There was a fair amount of water fowl flapping about as well.
There is gym and a swimming pool located in another former canal building close to the front door.
I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel and I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to the users of this website.
The only down side during my stay was a fire evacuation at breakfast time, but I am now a seasoned traveller and have come to accept the inability of my fellow guests to follow the simple instruction "keep bathroom door shut when showering" as a reasonably common occurrence.
I will definitely be returning here.

As well as being in a super location, this hotel needs to be praised for the general helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. Without exception they all seemed to be genuinely friendly, not the result of a training exercise. Whoever went out of their way to find me a bottle of ale, deserves special praise. Thanks very much.

Room Tip: Water views from most rooms, I think.

Booked in for an overnight stay (family room) for a trip to watch Chester FC. Check in was quick but the room wasnt quite ready. After a short wait we got access and the room had two doubles and was spottlessly clean . Lovely location next to the canal and 2 miles or so from Cheshire Oaks. Will definitely return
