“Rude waitress”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2013

I have just got back from eating here. We booked a table in the resturant upstairs as this was a surprise for my father for his birthday and retirement. When we got there all the lights were off and we were all made to feel uncomfortable like we were in the way. Eventually someone said "oh your over here" and pointed to a table that was dirty. During the meal the waitress that was serving our table was very rude. She was muttering under her breath and was very clear that she did not want to be serving us. We had a 5 year old little boy with us and she was very sarcastic to him. There was 15 of us eating there and we all felt like we had made a bad choice of venue for this special occasion. My partner and myself ordered the enchiladas which were microwaved and stuck to the plate. The only good thing about this evening was the deserts which were lovely.

“Well worth a visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2013 via mobile

Just finished a lovely lunch at the local Marston's family pub, after enjoying a nice experience at a different Marton's only last week.

Did not plan this, but they happened to be near the shopping outlet, this being our last stop as we head home after a week away.

Read some of the reviews, some of them quite damning, but we has already sat down, so...

Service was impeccable, going above and beyond the call of duty (my daughter banged her head in the playing area, and the waitress offered to bring some ice, which she did).

Food was great, very good value. Desserts very good (I strongly recommend the sticky toffee sponge). But BEST of all, the 2-4-1 offer, which meant we had a super meal (which we couldn't all finish!) and dessert for £37, which is great for a family of 4.

Would definitely recommend if you're in the area.

Thanks to all staff, you were great.

“Nice staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013

Arrived on August Bank Holiday Sunday lunch and found a nice table in the conservatory. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble even though they were very busy. They made sure we were comfortable and ensured the meals were fine. We had sunday roast and the beef was tender, whilst the yorkshire pud was very good. They offered to help us with the crossword we were doing and became as frustrated as we were when the answers were not forthcoming. Thank you for a lovely time. Will return.

“Avoid”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2013

Firstly, I have to declare that I have estimated when we visited this place, I didn't do the review straight away, as I was so disgusted, it would have been a tirade.

Secondly, I'm sorry that I didn't get the name of our waitress, as she was the one and only saving grace of our 'experience' at this pub/restaurant (for the record, she's in her twenties, short darkish hair and had funky water melons painted on her nails).

We were kind of a captive audience when we visited, we'd paid a trip to Cheshire Oaks, and received news that the motor way was at a stand still, so decided to pop in here for dinner, hoping for a bargain as meals were advertised as 2 for 1. Here's a hint - if your food is rubbish, 2 for 1 ISN'T a bargain.

We were seated and served quickly and professionally.

Rocksavageman ordered a chicken dish - when it arrived he said it tasted like pieces of rubber in a tin of soup.

Rocksavageboy, who is vegetarian, ordered the veggie hot dog - which was a rock hard and burned Quorn sausage - obviously over microwaved. He refused to eat it saying that it would break his teeth. He actually initially asked for the veggie tortilla wraps, but was told that they didn't have the 'veggie mix' to make them - surely to God slicing some peppers, carrots and onions isn't difficult?

I ordered the Butter Pie with house salad. House salad consisted of limp iceberg lettuce, two slices of flavourless tomato and one slice of cucumber, no dressing. The Butter Pie looked like a pile of burned chips stuffed into a rock hard (over microwaved) pastry case.

I've made Butter Pie before, delicately sliced pieces of potato, in a butter glaze, in puff pastry. Beautiful, melt in he mouth pie - THIS WAS NOTHING LIKE THAT.

A family at the next table asked the waitress what the butter pie was like, and she directed them to me, asking if it was nice. I replied with a most definite 'no'. The waitress was very apologetic, but, it's not really her fault that the food was inedible.

All three of us left the majority of our meals, and most definitely won't be returning. We're actually considering boycotting Marston pubs on the basis of how horrendous the food was at this place.

“Hmmmm”

Chips were brown, all 7 of them, took ages to get food. Toilets weren't overly clean either. Even though buy one get one free, the meals are expensive for what you get.
