We went on a Sunday evening to see Doctor Feelgood. The theatre itself is magnificent, and according to the band's lead singer, it has the only working example of a gas burning smoke extractor in the ceiling, which I'm ashamed to say I've forgotten the technical term for. While the audience were a bit sparse on this occasion, we made up for it by applauding and shouting very loudly. I personally think that it was the wrong type of venue for this band, as they are better suited to a club, but full marks to the management for trying. There is a very varied season of entertainment to come, so the theatre is well worth supporting. The also have a nice bar!!

Ken Dodd is a patron of this lovely old fashioned theatre & he appears here every year around Christmas. What a showman - he is extremely funny without innuendo or smut & he never finishes his performance on time - he over runs by a mile but what value for money. Highly recommended if you want your chuckle muscles to disintegrate.

Good value meals, good quality fresh cooked food!
I visited a couple of times recently, I had the Burger which was lovely and a Ploughmans which was good value for money. Both were fresh cooked by a proper Chef and clearly had good quality ingredients. Recommended for a lunchtime bite or preshow dinner.

Love this theatre and how I blends in with market town yet like stepping back in time in entering. I do think that the sweets and ice cream are expensive though. Seats were more comfy that I expected, I have long legs and still room between me and seat in front in the stalls. Great production. Staff eager to please although a little over zealous in respect of watching out for mobile phones being used to take pics...can see why they do this though. Booked to go again in four weeks.
