This is the second time I have stayed here, the first time being exactly a year ago. Surprisingly the owner( I believe his name is Peter) recognised me which considering he must have several hundred ,if not thousands, of guests a year is fairly impressive.
Anyway, Peter is very friendly and amusing. It you do not want to eat at the Manor House there are other facilities a minute's walk away. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom clean and modern.
The breakfast was very good and freshly cooked with quick service.
I would recommend The Manor and will be staying again.

Upon arrival we were greeted at the door by an extremely helpful and friendly gentleman who had great knowledge of the local surroundings and helped us in choosing where to eat that evening.
The room was well presented and very clean overlooking a beautiful garden and water feature. The breakfast was superb and really hit the spot. Would recommend it to anyone visiting Alton Towers as only a ten minute drive.

I booked this hotel as i wanted somewhere close to Alton Towers to stay as we were already travelling close to 200 miles to go to the theme park on the day. when scanning through a couple of web sites ( booking and Late rooms) i came accross a number of hotels as close and for half the price of this one ,but chose to stay here as i tend to go for 4* and upwards and generally would pay more for a nicer room , location and comfort.
Now that i've stayed here i know for next time to save a bit of money and book into a different b&b as you can't get much more basic and dated as this, and by dated i don't mean characteristic and charmful, i mean, plaster and paint hanging off the ceilings around windows, single glazed windows, a bathroom from the 1960's, everything apart from one wallpapered wall was brown, very dark and dingy lighting, just a general let down feeling when i walked through the door of the room.
the radiator rattled all night, it didnt seem that bad at say 10pm, but in the middle of the night it was very noticable.
the entire ceiling and corners of the room were covered in spiders and their webs as well. not worth anywhere near £90.
i've read some of the reviews since being here about fully double glazed and that all the bathrooms were refurbished a few years ago and the rooms were decorated throughout and only wished i'd taken photos to prove that wrong.
i think the owner writes these reviews himself .
he was also very keen to put down the new weatherspoon that had opened up, commenting on it several times when we first met him, and in the morning, it must be taking away business and i can see why.
we called in there for a pint and it was the best thing about the place tbh.
honestly, if your just looking for somewhere to set up camp for alton towers, stay elsewhere!!

I am really sorry that you felt this way about your stay with us. Had I known you were in any way unhappy with your room I would have changed it for you.
In fairness though we say our first floor rooms have been double glazed, which they have as they do not have the benefit of the cover of the walkway. There is honestly no plaster or paint hanging off anywhere. As for spiders webs, we dust daily with feather brushes at high level and in the corners.
Wetherspoons is an added benefit to Cheadle both as a place to eat and drink and an employer.
I am just not a great fan of their product but it suits some of our customers but not all.

Thanks again for your review.

We stayed here for one night in October 2013 because we were visiting Alton towers. Our room was small, very basic and clean although very dark and dingy, not helped by the brown colour scheme. The windows are single glazed (downstairs) and the lamps are not very bright near a mirror, so not good for getting ready to go out. The radiators warmed the room up nicely but although we had the radiator off all night, it clicked continuously throughout the night so we didn't sleep very well. I had wanted a shower in the morning and there was no hot water. So I waited half an hour and tried again... Still no hot water. I gave up. The breakfast was really good, we had a full English and it was delicious and the breakfast waiting on staff were very friendly. Upon checking out the owner didn't ask how our stay had been and seemed to want us out quickly. Overall, not a bad place but not a great one either. Definitely not worth £88 a night to stay here though.

We are really sorry you had an issue with hot water. On investigation we had some faults with our boiler. This has now been rectified.Other guests mentioned this to us the same day and we gave a partial refund. If you do read this response please contact us and we will gladly do the same with you. On the plus side we are very pleased you enjoyed breakfast.
