“Very Impressed”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 2, 2013

Popped in for a quick snack and was pleasantly surprised by this pub. Clean and welcoming, nice decor and friendly staff.

Great value food which arrived quickly, looked appetising and tasted very good!

Would definitely go back when next in the area.

“Perfect end to a rainy day at Alton Towers”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2013

My Boyfriend and I visited the Wheatsheaf after a particularly wet day at Alton Towers, in the hope for somewhere to just heat up and grab some hot chocolate. We were pleasantly surprised to then have some beautiful pub grub that was huge in portion size, at the lovely decor inside and the very polite staff. I would also like to add that the Wheatsheaf was beautifully decorated on the outside too; we noticed the terrace outside and were incredibly jealous we hadn't visited in summer. All in all, a lovely end to a very exciting day!

“Great food!!”

Weekend trip to alton towers and needed somewhere to eat afterwards and found this great little place. Food was excellent and the price wasn't too expensive either! Will definitely be back when we go again next year

“Pleasantly surprised!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2013

We didn't have very high expectations of our local Wetherspoons. The Wheatsheaf, in Cheadle, Staffs has been open for over a year but we hadn't been in yet! Envisaging another Hungry Horse/ Marstons ping and fling type horror, we went in without high expectations. Well, the place itself has been refurbished to an amazingly high standard, with a great deal of thought and sympathy to the locality. (Apparantly, even a chaise longe in the ladies loo). The outside terrace is the best pub terrace i've ever sat in. This is no afterthought as you are overlooking Pugin's world renowned Victorian masterpiece, St Giles Catholic church and it's stunning spires! The service is friendly, with knowledgeable staff and the menu is superb value with a good variety. Yes, the pub classics are present but also some imaginative vegetarian dishes. A great variety of drinks are available at some very reasonable prices but I know several people who would enjoy some fruit teas as well, with their meals. Just a minor observation though, is that it surely wouldn't cost any more to have a selection of sauces (and salt and Pepper) on the tables instead of help yourself canteen style, by the bar. All in all, worth popping in for a bite to eat or a drink. We went back again three days later!

“First visit to this Wetherspoons.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2013

Went on a Tuesday (Grill day offers) afternoon at about 2pm, there was about 12 customers in total, pub was one of the nicest Wetherspoons I have been in and I have been in quiet a few, service was quick as there was no one else at the bar, ordered 2 mixed grills and was asked if I wanted to upgrade the wine to a large one for a extra 50p, was happy with this but on checking the bill it was actually a extra 80p, food was also served quick, sausage was a bit burnt and there was no dressing on the salad, but all in all a very nice pub and would return in I was in that neck of the woods.
