Description: The Alderley is a split-level conservatory on wooded slopes overlooking the Cheshire countryside. The family-run feel of the main sandstone country house is felt here too, where warm browns, gentle lighting and exemplary front-of-house staff make you really rather comfortable. The food's exceptionally good; all freshly made and sourced locally, as the breads and homemade butters testify. Temptations are many, like rump of Cheshire lamb, slow-cooked tomatoes, baby roasted potatoes and garden mint, £23.15, and 'Treacletown' pudding with butterscotch ice cream and toffee sauce, £6.50. Not to mention seared liver and bacon with herb mash and redcurrant jus from the table d'hote lunch menu, £13.95 for two excellent courses. Meals can be scaled up or down, as you like.

Happy to take the grandchildren out to lunch. The staff made the lunch into a very special occasion. Children food was to the same standard as ours absolutely brilliant. Will be going again.

I had not dined at the Alderley Edge Restaurant for quite a while, so I was looking forward to
the occasion with high expectations - and I was certainly not disappointed. It was superb.
We had a very nice table by the window and as expected the service was excellent, attentive
and unobtrusive. We chose the "Summer Special" Menu. Each course was unusual in its
description but when it arrived it was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. The Edge
Hotel certainly lives up to its wording "One of the finest dining places in Cheshire.
The house wine which accompanies this menu was a very smooth and palatable Chilean
red wine.

As we were staying at the hotel, we decided to indulge ourselves by having the "wine flight" to accompany the 5 course tasting menu. This involved 3 different wines, but with top-ups if we wished, so very good value. The food itself lived up to its 3 AA Rosette billing - a thoroughly enjoyable meal.

We live in the village and thought we'd pop in for a drink on a rare night out. We had 2 cocktails each which were okay, the server was pleasant but wasn't sure how to make a margarita. The experience was pleasant enough until it was time to pay. £12.50 per drink. I nearly fell off my bar stool! Had just enjoyed a better cocktail at the Bar and Grill for £8 an hour earlier. When we questioned the price a young waitress informed us that drinks in hotels will be more expensive....

As a company director I've travelled extensively, and I'm well aware of the cost of drinks in 4 and 5 star hotels so wasn't really in need of her patronising advice.

Was hoping the brasserie could be a quieter, viable alternative to the London Rd venues but we won't be back.

Thank Giles G
