“Surprise. Pub food in a pub.”
Reviewed June 3, 2014

What do people want Michelin star quality? The food is basic and very enjoyable. The choice of beers is excellent and the staff very friendly and accommodating. Big shout to Luke who served us with good humour and patience. What do people mean when they say lack of atmosphere? Make your own. Will certainly go again if passing through

“Forget it”
Reviewed May 11, 2014

Soulless place which is a pity as the beer is great and it's spacious and well located. Lacks atmosphere. Food - forget it.

“Pretty but tasteless”
Reviewed March 10, 2014

I was really looking forward to the food from the menu it looked lovely, it's a game that's where it ended! I ordered the Milano chicken which came with "garlic roasted potatoes" but I couldn't taste any garlic and the mozzarella balls were basically frozen. I had the apple pie for desert but the crust was softy and not enjoyable, the best part was the custard that was clearly tinned! I understand it's a chain of pubs so I wasn't expecting gourmet food but for the price of the food didn't live up to the expectations. I won't be going there again!

“Very friendly but average food”
Reviewed March 4, 2014 via mobile

Stayed at the premier inn here for a week and only went once, because despite very friendly staff the price didn't justify quality. Basically weatherspoon level food but pricier. However the settings is lovely very clean and relaxing setting, and te staff were perfect. Was quiet when I was there and service time was fairly slow though.

“Dinner Vegetarian , lack of choice, missing items”
Reviewed March 3, 2014

As we were passing we thought we would try this place so called in and ordered a couple of drinks, flat coke and soda water. One of us went for a la carte the other the fixed price lunch menu. A la carte - mushroom with stilton to start was ok but the sauce tasted as if it was from a packet and the bread which accompanied it was soggy. This was followed by the chilli tagliatele which was very good.

Fixed price (2 courses for £9 and 3 for £12) - we were told the menu was changing so the macaroni with cheese wasn't available. We asked what the alternative was and were asked if we would have the fish, we reiterated that we were vegetarian. We then waited while the member of the bar staff went away to find out what we might have. Helpfully we were then offered any veg option from the a la carte at the same price as the FPM. The risotto was ordered; however after eating the starter we were told a key ingredient from the risotto was not available. We suggested an alternative which was included and the meal was good. The pudding which was described as containing shortbread, cream and fresh strawberries came without any of these, no explanation was given as to why the ingredients were missing. It was left and we left.
