“Our Wedding Reception Sat 02 March 13”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 12, 2013

After returning from our wedding in Jamaica we had a wedding reception at the Rose and Crown Hotel to mark the occasion with all our friends and family. It truley was amazing everything had been thought of from the food to the decoration in the amazingly beautiful trumpet hall. The staff where absolutley amazing and all our friends and family complemented the staff throughout the evening. we could not have asked for anything more. the bridal suite was decorated to perfection. we felt so special throughout the night and i would recommed this hotel to anyone for a future wedding or family celebration. 5* to the hotel and its staff for an evening my husband and i shall never forget.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel last night.
Though we didnt eat there at night, the menu looked amazing and we will come back again and try it out.
However, the breakfast was excellent, even though we changed our minds on having a late breakfast, and added another friend of ours to the mix! They catered for us in a most professional manner, always checking that we had enough and if there was anything they could do. Very polite and courteous.
We though this was the end of it, then discovering some 100 miles away that we had left both my GPS and house keys in the room, the hotel staff soon not only found the items, but bagged them up for us and ran down to the Post Office and sent them off Special Delivery, to be with us before 9AM next morning!
What service!!
Running a company of my own, I just wished my staff would respond quite so fast and thoughtfully!
We WILL be returning in the near future, and wish them all the best for the future.

Room Tip: Book Early!!

I stayed in this lovely hotel for one night, received a warm welcome, followed the satellite drections given on their website which took me straight into the hotel car park. The room was lovely and very comfortable, a hotel full of character, including the sloping 400 year old stairs.I ate in the bar, and was blown away by the salmon, crab, asparagus pasta......as good as a high end restaurant and really good value. An excellent wine list also.Owner James and his wife have an excellent hotel I would highly recommend.

Just returned from a fabulous & restful 2 night dbb break at the Rose & Crown Hotel in Wisbech. Thank God for Secret Escapes or we would never have found this jewel in Cambridge's crown. We had originally booked a twin room but were pleasantly surprised on arrival to be offered seperate double rooms due to a noisy fan above the kitchen. The Hotel is quirky and old fashioned with uneven staircases and floors and walls but still warm, cosy and inviting. rooms (308 & 309) were spacious, very clean with light, bright bathrooms which put us at ease.
The beds, ooohhh the beds, it was like sleeping in huge marshmallows - definitely 5 star.

Compliments to the staff who were attentive, helpful and very friendly - well done. The 3 course dinner was delightful, better than the full english breakfast (but only because there was no kipper alternative to sausages & bacon) and the portion sizes for both were more than adequate. Do try their hot chocolate; it was actually hot, creamy and chocolaty - much better than Starbucks or Costa.
The only downside was the surrounding area - not much to do, but it's a great base to travel further afield from and the rooms are pleasant enough for you to stay in & rest. All in all a wonderful stay and I will definitely recommend to family & friends and hope to return again. Thank you, thank you, thank you :-)

Room Tip: Potential for noise with rooms at the front of the hotel

We returned to Wisbech for a 2 night visit last week and what a pleasurable experience to stay at the Rose and Crown Hotel. Having previously lived in Wisbech for 10 years, we were always disappointed that we were not able to recommend a Wisbech hotel to visitors. Well after our stay at the Rose and Crown that has now changed. The renovation of this " historic" hotel" has been superb with the character maintained and with quality refurbishment. The food was excellent and at very reasonable prices. Moreover the owner and the staff were superb- best we have experienced for their welcome and helpfulness.
So well done to all at the Hotel, you certainly deserve the high ratings for all the hard work that has gone into making the Rose and Crown an easy place to recommend to future guests.

We stayed here for one night in January, as we were visiting family in Wisbech. We liked the sound of the hotel, the history of it and the fact it is a family run business. We had high hopes from the reviews on trip advisor and we were not disappointed.

The building is very old and the new owners have done a great job of showing off the quirkiness of the place. The 400 year old stairs really add to the charm of the hotel. Mind the burglars step! Loved the library and all the games dotted around the room - it kept our little one entertained.

Room - We had a lovely room at the back of the hotel, over looking the courtyard and it was very quiet. I loved the mattress, it was super comfortable. Had a great nights sleep.

Food - We had lunch and dinner in the Swan restaurant. The food is fantastic! Breakfast is served in the Atrium and that too was also of a really good quality. They've some great chefs! There is another restaurant called the Rose restaurant, which I wish we had tried and the next time we stay we definitely will.

Staff - All super friendly and very attentive. Nothing is too much trouble and they really made it a pleasant stay.

Location - Right in the centre of the town. The car park is at the back of the hotel and a little tricky to find. Look for big red arched wooden doors and you shouldn't miss it.

We really liked this hotel and will definitely be returning when we take our next trip to Wisbech.
