“Perfect stay”

Like a lot of the reviewers I was concerned about the possibilities of noise from the main road. I slept in the Lodge and in all fairness there wasn't much noise. I must admit though if this was a high summers night and you needed a window open then I think the noise could be an issue.

Check in was straight forward, even an offer to take my case.

I had dinner in the hotel, the offering is cheap and cheerful but very nice all the same.

Breakfast was excellent, well above expectation. I would definitely stop here again.

Room Tip: Try and get a Lodge room

We are so glad you found your room comfortable and peaceful and that the 3-course fixed price evening meal went down well.
The modern building regulation requirements and efficient double glazing does minimise outside noise and during the summer months, due to the rural location of the Hotel an abundance of fresh air through open windows can be enjoyed from the rear facing Lodge rooms overlooking the gardens. We do offer climate control to those guests not wishing to be disturbed by the early morning chorus.
Thank you for taking time out with your review.

Upon arrival I worried, due to the location alongside the A47, if I'd actually get any sleep.
Silly really as the noise is no more than at many other hotels I've stayed in on business trips.
I stayed for one night, single person in a double room, and enjoyed a good nights sleep and the use of what is probably one of the best showers in any hotel.
There is the main house where you check in, includes the restaurant and maybe, I didn't stay in that part of the hotel, rooms such as the bridal suite, foreposter room etc. I was in the Lodge building which was bright, very modern and spotlessly clean and blessed with a simply wonderful shower. Powerful and with ooodles of hot water.
I didn't have breaksfast so can't comment on the food, but I'll stay again and not worry for one second about sleeping well; I will ask for the same room though simply to snuffle the same shower.

Room Tip: Ask for a Lodge Room - The best shower you'll have :-)

Thank you for your review, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay and we appreciate your concern about possible noise, but as you discovered our Lodge rooms being new are built to current sound insulation requirements are very well insulated,we are always willing to locate the lightest sleeper in a rear garden facing room.
We are pleased you found the new lodge showers and décor to your liking and you left "relaxed".

We just spent two nights at this hotel as we attended a 60th birthday party in the area and decided to make it a weekend break.
The hotel is very pleasant, check-in was very quick and efficient just having to write car registration and provide a signature on a pre-printed form. The friendly and helpful receptionist offered to show us to our room in the lodge but being honest it is very easy to locate especially with instructions given anyway.
The rooms are modern, very clean and well equipped with really comofortable king-sized beds, enough storage space for a 2 night stay. Additional blankets and pillows if required, good sized tv and ample refreshments. 2 chairs and a table make for additional seating area if required.
There was no bath in the room however it was fine as we always use only the shower. The shower was superb, a good quality shower with adjustable head for different spray options.
One reviewer commented about the noise from the road and gravel, to be honest they must be extrememly light sleepers, even in the day time at its busiest I would only describe it as 'background' noise. We both slept peacefully undisturbed on both nights.
We did not eat in the evening as we were catered for elsewhere however, breakfast was nice with good quality sausages and bacon. It was also nice to see tinned tomatoes as well as grilled tomoatoes. Also selection of cerials and meats, cheeses for more continental style. My only (very pedantic) quibble is I would have preferred fried eggs as opposed to scrambled and the scrambled eggs were a little too runny (although cooked) for my liking however, only a very minor personal point.
Just to advise, if you are in the lodge you cannot book meals or drinks to your room but the big major plus side of this is it makes checking out very quick (you just handover your key) and also you don't have the tedious queue of people checking their bills, asking questions and thehn waiting for card payments.
In summary, very comfortable rooms, nice tv/lounge area, friendly and helpful staff, good food and excellent value for money. Would highly recommend and also would stay again.

Stayed at this Hotel with two colleagues for one night. The Hotel is situated in close proximity to a round about of the busy A47 and the A1101 in Wisbech. This mean't we were goin to be subjected to traffic noise! The main building of the Hotel is very nice and I would guess this was here prior to the A47 being built. We booked in at reception and directed to our rooms. These were to be in the Lodge away from the main building. Our rooms were located on the ground floor away from the road. The rooms are clean and spacious.Nice big double bed, En-suite, TV, Kettle, open wardrobe space, desk unit and table and chairs.Really quite nice. The en-suite housed WC, Shower and sink basin. No Bath. This area was also very clean with towels provided. We decided to meet up for a meal in the restaurant which was quite a small area. Light and clean. We placed our order with a very polite and pleasant waitress. The food appeared to be freshly cooked and so we had to wait sometime before our meal were brought to the table. If the restaurant was busy then this would be cause for concern. The food was very nice with good portions. After our meal we decided to sit outside with our drinks. The road was very noisy and this made having a conversation difficult. After awhile we decided to retire to our respective rooms and settle down for the night. The grounds of the hotel is covered with layers of pebbles and so quite noisy with vehicles driving on the surface. Also, why is some hotels guests don't seem to respect and be considerate to other guest and bang doors, have their TV volume up loud and generally being noisy? Although I did manage to sleep, this wasn't so for my two colleagues. A very noisy location. I didn't check to see if the windows were double glazed to cut down on noise levels.Overall a clean nice Hotel. Polite and presentable staff. Shame about the location.

Room Tip: Be prepared for the road noise. If staying in the lodge,Choose a room which is situated around the ba...

Thank you for reviewing your stay with us, we glad you enjoyed the friendly service and freshly cooked meals, we do have more than one restaurant and bar where meals and snacks can also be taken.
I am sorry that the traffic distracted your conversation whilst sitting out on the terrace, however the terrace does run all around the main Hotel building and there are areas at the rear that overlook the gardens where a pleasant meal, drink and conversation may be taken.
The majority of our Lodge rooms are rear garden facing and are without doubt the best bet for the light sleeper especially during the warmer nights when windows are often opened by the guest.
Thank you once again for your review.

We travelled from Newquay in the County of Cornwall to Wisbech in the County of Cambridgeshire, a distance of 557 KM so I could go fishing with Bob Nudd (MBE). I meet Bob when he was in Australia providing world class instruction to those of us match fishing here in Australia. In Wisbech we stayed at Elme Hall Hotel and this did not disappoint. Everything about this place was good, but the staff stood out the most. The food was good and the people so nice. Being an Aussie, my partner and I missed a fridge in the room :)

Room Tip: Pay the extra money and get an upstairs room round the back. Don't stir up the cheeky red head o...

Oh dear what can I say, this place is really lacking on all fronts and mainly the service. To be told we can't serve you in the bar for 20minutes as we are busy serving food in an empty hotel is shocking. The chef walked through the bar area telling the staff to take no further food orders as he couldn't cope looking filthy put us right off so we left and ate elsewhere. The rooms were ok location standard, wouldn't recommend to anyone!

Your Table for 9 was booked for 9-30pm, you turned up nearly 2 hours early and expected us to stop serving two busy restaurants and room service orders to bring your booking forward.
We had 4 Chefs on duty and a messenger was sent from the kitchen to reinforce the busy situation, as with a busy kitchen, "whites" do not remain so for long.
You then decided to simply walk out to seek a less busy place, forgetting the reserved table and then returning after midnight in party mode and demanding more drink, causing disturbance to guests already turned in for the night.
I can confirm that you will not be staying at Elme Hall again.

Stayed in the lodge annexe. Noisy from the road nearby. Food OK but lacked imagination. Room was clean but basic / utilitarian. Staff were all very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. They made up for what the hotel lacked.

Thank you for your review of your stay in our New Lodge, which you feel is "tired" yet virtually brand new and in contrast to our other reviewers.
I think perhaps due to the very warm night and having the windows open, it would have been an idea to have called reception and requested a move to a cooler rear garden side room of the Lodge.
Our A La Carte menu would in fact give a much more varied choice of food and prices than the "budget" 3-course "set" £11.95 evening dinner. You may also have found the traditional executive bedrooms in our main Hotel more to your liking than the Budget Rooms in the New Lodge, the prices are however reflected in the choice and facilities offered.
We hope to see you again soon, when we would be happy to show you around the Hotel's various facilities.
