“A good, historical town house.”
Reviewed April 13, 2014

There was a lot to see at Peckover House. We had a look around the house first, explored the gardens and then paid for the behind the scenes tour. It was a little uncomfortable because we had to listen for a long time in some rooms where it was not possible to stand upright. However, we ended up on the roof which is not accessible from the normal entrance. The tea rooms were even better than normal and the Victoria sponge is to die for.

“A great place to see”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

As with all National Trust places, it's really interesting for both adults and children. There is a huge garden and great tea room too. Staff are friendly and if you look on line, there are several special days where you can see parts of the building that the general public don't get to see. Certainly a place to go for a repeat visit.

“Wonderful day out.”
Reviewed October 29, 2013 via mobile

I just loved visiting Peckover. It is a great place to visit. Peckover house grounds are like a grand country house in miniature, with a kitchen garden, croquet lawn, orangery and two pools. The fine redbrick house was built in 1722 and overlooks the Georgian boomtown of Wisbech, but the gardens date from the Victorian era. Peckover is one of the finest examples of a walled town garden in the country. This is a wonderful place - great location - parking is small - the restaurant is good serving good quality food - all the staff were very polite - friendly and helpful and above all very knowledgeable about the house & garden. This is well worth visiting and I've never enjoyed myself so much when I visited the place. Will be back.

“A GREAT NATIONAL TRUST HOUSE”
Reviewed October 19, 2013

If in the Wisbech area, then you must go to see this house. It is a great example of this period, it is set in its own nearly 60 acres of grounds, but most of this area now leased to the council, but still has two acres of beautiful gardens, the house is a very good example, furnished for the period.
The House and grounds was owned by a quaker banking family, called the Peckovers who were very successful in what they did, and lived in the house for over a 150 years.
There is avery good restaurant, on the site, and the volunteers were extremely knowledgable, and helpful, a credit to the Trust.
Parking is limited, and there is a small shop.
Overall a very good afternoon can be spent here
