“Good Stay”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

We were a bit apprehensive when arriving at the Premier Inn as we had read a few mixed reviews from other guests. I think for budget accommodation (which after all, that's what it is) was perfectly acceptable. We were in a Family room which was a good size. The bedroom and bathroom were clean and tidy and the breakfast in the adjoining pub was fine. We arrived 1hr before check in and the receptionist was helpful and found out if our room was ready. The only niggle I had was the coffee in the pub. The coffee is from a "help yourself" Costa machine and as a coffee snob I though unlimited refills would be heaven! The coffee which came out of the machine was awful which I mentioned to a member of staff but it seemed no better the next day, so we did without (There is a Costa over the road so it wasn't too much of a problem)

We stayed here to go to Milton Keynes. We did go to the wrong one at first they have two premier inns within 1 min of each other so we knew we were close see the premier inn sign and pulled in to find we were not booked in here but at the other one, apparently this happens a lot between the two, they are always sending people off to the other one. May help if they put signs at the entrance to say where you are and where the other one is.

Still once we got in to our one we found it was very nice, Clean and staff we very nice. We had a table booked at the ajoining brewers fayre which was just lovely. (see review of that). My bed was very comfy The room was just a tad warm but not too bad at all. We were are the quiet end we heard very little road noise if any at times. We would stay here again very nice one.

The rooms are clean and the night sleep is good.
a little shabbier than the other premier inn I know, but still decent place.
Reception was less than interested in assisting us, but did their jobs.

No free WiFi (30 min is not "Free internet!")

Stayed here one saturday night. Warm welcome and offer to book table for dinner at the neighbouring Brewers Fayre restaurant. Room on the ground floor at the back and standard Premier Inn room. Only gripe was no shower gel in the bathroom. Soundproofing from upstairs room and people in the corridor could be better, but very quiet outside, no traffic noise at all given how close we were to the A1. I would certainly be happy to stay again if I needed a crash pad in the area,

The room we had was good value for the price we paid. It was comfortable, clean and quiet (apart from someone's child running up and down the corridor in the early hours, but you can't blame the hotel for irresponsible and selfish parents). There is adequate car parking on site and you could probably park in the surrounding business park if the car park filled up.

We have stayed at this hotel twice and have eaten in the River Mill Tavern and the Waggon & Horses in Eaton Socon, both about 10-15 minutes walk away in Eaton Socon. I would recommend both of these pubs. The White Horse will give you a friendly welcome but it is a bit tatty, so OK for a drink but probably not the best place to eat. The centre of St Neots is about 2 miles away offering more pubs & restaurants but we didn't go there so I can't comment further.

If you stay here you really need to eat out as the attached Highwayman Brewers Fayre is a complete disgrace. We went in there just after 9pm on a Saturday after eating out, for a couple more drinks. Every table had dirty plates and glasses on (and I really do mean EVERY table). No effort was being made to clear these away. There was food on the floor and the whole place was a complete mess. I tried to get served at the bar but was completely ignored by bar staff who were clearing away behind the bar, as if they were about to close. One barman was removing the drip trays from all of the beer taps, obviously not intending to pour any more pints that evening. He walked past me several times, avoiding eye contact and just ignoring me. I was the only person waiting to be served, so it wasn't as if other staff were busy. After while I gave up.

This pub is a total disgrace; it is dirty with lazy staff who see customers as an inconvenience. Someone at head office ought to do something, like put in a manager who will do something about trying to turn the place around.

If you decide to stay here I would urge you not to risk a visit to the Highwayman - you will probably regret it. Try one of the local pubs - do your homework on Google Maps and Tripadvisor before going as there are some excellent pubs nearby if you know where to look.

A very nice one night stay.. Comfortable bed, modern and clean room with no outside noise to disturb our sleep .. What more could one ask for in a reasonably priced hotel room.

The Brewers Fayre restaurant next door was quite good too.
