We booked at the Eaton Oak a month in advance for 16 of us for Christmas dinner. When we arrived we were put on 2 different tables facing away from eachother. When we asked for them to be moved, we were told this was not possible...not a great start.

Starter was slightly burnt and like a rock to eat. For the main I had lamb hich was chewy, vegetables were undercooked and my friends didn't get hers till 10 minutes into the meal. The Cod alternative looked the complete opposite to appetising, smothered in cheese sauce, very little cod.

Dessert was ok, most of us had the torte, however the Christmas Pudding was a very small portion and the custard was too eggy.

I am normally not a picky person, but that night was not one I want to remember. The only reason I'm going to two stars is because they deducted the 3rd course off the total price.

We stayed as a family at Easter 2013 and had two rooms, the double room had a huge king size bed that was very comfortable and the room and the bathroom were very clean. We ate in the hotel for our evening meal and could not fault both the food or the service. Breakfast was also very good. Great value for money and very friendly staff.
