Owner description: At Linton Zoo, emphasis is on conservation and education, while providing an enjoyable family outing. There is a wealth of rare and exotic creatures to see including Tigers, Lions, Tapirs, Lemurs, Owls, Parrots, Giant Tortoises, Tarantula Spiders and many others. The zoo is an ever evolving attraction, set in 18 acres of gardens and woodland with plenty of picnic areas. It is generally considered a one and a half hour visit but some visitors do stay longer especially on days when there is a full programme of keeper talks and activities. The favourite of all is the animal encounter sessions. Many of the aviaries and enclosures are heavily planted so you need to be prepared to take your time at each exhibit. Bear in mind that Linton Zoo is a breeding centre for endangered species and is not a commercial entertainment centre. There are several options to enhance your visit with a behind the scenes tour, money raised from these special tours directly support field conservation projects through our charity. There are sometimes late closing evenings with extra special activities aimed at giving you a better understanding of specific animals, details are posted on our Facebook and website. Expect country park like pathways, some are gravel and sand others are grass, because of the large trees there are occasional roots. The zoo is more or less all out in the open so there is little shelter on wet days, if you visit on a day with rain expected please do come suitably dressed with waterproof footwear. Free parking is within zoo grounds and there is a basic children's play area. The one toilet block is situated on the car park area which is within the zoo grounds and as the zoo is quite compact it is within easy reach most times. There is also a coffee shop which serves a wide range of snack and lunch items as well as hot and cold drinks. We are open all year but restricted hours during the winter months. Visit our website for visit information including opening hours and details of activities at weekends and during the school holidays. Our Facebook page will keep you updated with all the latest news and of course the latest cute baby pictures.

Thank you Linton Zoo for such a wonderful day out. Myself, husband and three teenage children spent a great day at your zoo. The kids thoroughly enjoyed a hands on Lemur tour and listened intently to all the talks given by your keepers. Mikey, James (the lion man) and the keepers in the reptile house were all so enthusiastic and obviously enjoyed what they were doing especially promoting conservation. We will definitely be back and would encourage anyone wanting a good day out with children young and teenage to visit.

Went to this Zoo over the bank holiday weekend. Although it is a little scruffy in some minor areas it was laid out well, especially for smaller children who are interested one minute and not the next. Keepers were knowledgeable and area was clen and quaint. Our 23 month old grandson was kept interested by most of the animals including Lions, Tigers and Birds. Also he was able to climb over a couple of treehouses with slides with us in attendance allowing his parents to eat part of their picnic in peace. As he has a turtle at home he was facsinated by the giant tortises and leart quite a few new words. All in all a good choice for a bank holiday.

It's small, very personal and friendly. Because of this the atmosphere is chilled and relaxed. Though there are only a few animals here there chance to get up-close and personal is great and there is no worry of being crushed by the crowds. A great zoo!

This place is worth it for the giant Tortoises alone!! It is a lovely little zoo - not the full works, (no elephants or rhinos) but there are Lions, Tigers, Tapirs (another first for me) & many other species to see. Really good.

We had a great day out at Linton Zoo. It is a smallish size zoo with a more personal touch and the staff were extremely knowledgable and helpful. The animals seem to be very well understood by the keepers and their enclosures are each tailored to the needs of the animal. Although there are a few reviews saying some enclosures are 'overgrown' this is to recreate the correct environment for the animals to feel secure, especially the birds of prey who generally live in the woods, not over a lawn! For this reason, it is part of the experience to look for some of the animals as they are not always sitting by the fence looking back at you.

We paid an extra £10 each for the Meet The Lemurs experience, spending a little over 30 minutes inside the Lemur enclosure with two of the keepers. Mikey, in particular, made sure that both us and the animals were safe and comfortable at all times whilst explaining about the Lemurs, Linton's breeding programme and the destruction of their natural habitat in Madagascar. He was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about them, and the other animals he helps to look after within the zoo, as were the other keepers as we walked around. We had a really good and informative day out and will definitely be returning in the future.
