Were do I start? A thousand year old pub with a grave in the bar. Staff were all very friendly and the pub grub was great, bar was very very comfortable and cosy. We had a great view of the white swans on the river.this is a must stay pub for people who want to enjoy the English countryside at its best. One point if you don't have a car get a taxi from st Ives as public transport is not the best.

We live fairly locally and we hadn't been here for a couple of years (due to a bad experience!!) and decided to give it another try on a Sunday tea time.
It was fairly busy but there was only 1 person behind the bar who was doing everything, taking food orders, payments and serving the drinks.
You find your table and then go to the bar to order and pay and get your receipt.
My husband just put the receipt on the table so I had a look at it and thought it was rather more than it should be. On closer investigation we had been overcharged by £8.40!!!! Went back to the bar and after a rather long wait, (as only 1 person still serving) I was told "sorry, I mixed your order up with someone else's - give me your card and I will make a refund"!! Good job we noticed whilst we were still there.
Our table was sticky and had no cutlery on it, cleaned it with a wet wipe and asked someone to get us some cutlery.
I ordered the "Sunday roast" with all the trimmings!!! Big mistake.
I asked for my beef to be well done and it certainly was, so much so that I couldn't even chew it!!
I'm not sure what "all the trimmings" were as it came with 2 soggy yorkshire puddings, some cold mashed potato, broccoli was brown and overcooked, cold carrots and cold mashed potatoes.
The only thing that was hot was the roast potatoes - I think they had just dropped them into a fat fryer.
My husband order a burger and chips (£8.49) he said it was ok but he's had much better, much cheaper.
It's such a shame about this place because it is in a lovely location and would be super on a summers evening. We will never return again.

Room Tip: Can't comment on the accommodation as we only used the pub.

For a wedding celebration it would be great but for the wedding party we attended we could not believe the poor standard of food presented as a buffet. We found the variety of items to be sandwiches and other 'filling type things' that we were able to resist. I would not consider returning again.

Room Tip: Luckily we did not have to stay here.

What a shame! Went for a meal and the place was filthy. Covered seats had stains all over them - clean them or even better replace them! Chewing gum under chairs and tables and eve chewing gum on the decorative implements placed for atmosphere - classy!
Many years ago this pub was a great place to eat and have a drink. Clearly things have deteriorated .
In need of refurbishment I' m afraid.
Come on Old English Inns - treat your customers with respect!

We were lucky enough to invited to stay at the Old Ferry Boat Inn as part of a wedding party.

The staff here are amazing and work so hard to please their clientele. Nothing was too much trouble, even late into the evening.

Our room was small, but well equipped, clean and comfortable. The ensuite was tiny, but had all the necessary bits, and served its purpose well. This in a very old building, but all mod cons were included, sometimes in a confined space, so well done!!

The food was good and reasonably priced with a good children's menu too. We did have to wait a bit at times, but the staff were amazing and we felt very welcome and comfortable.

The ambience of this lovely old inn was exceptional, including the presence of its resident ghost!

The setting of the Old Ferry Boat is about as beautiful as it gets, by a small stretch of the River Ouse, in a tiny picturesque, thatched village.

On the whole a wonderful experience and we will return, fishing tackle at hand!

Thank you to all the staff for a great time.

Room Tip: We were in room 2 which was not a bad size, small ensuite, view of the river. My son and his family...

Have visited the Ferry Boat on and off for 25 years. It's always been nice if a little pricey. Went on a boating trip with friends and stopped off for lunch. More like dinner! The bar was understaffed and took ages to do anything even thought it wasn't busy. Ordered lunch and the barman waited until we'd paid before informing us it would be an hour wait. We were told the delay was due to a large table. There were eight to ten of them. Obviously the kitchen is understaffed as well. Paid over £17 for a steak that I wouldn't feed my dog. What a shame. A beautiful pub in a beautiful location spoiled by being taken over by a chain

Travelled some distance for an evening meal Thursday night as it is a nice location. After a drink we chose our meals. Plenty of spare tables available. Went to the bar at 8.25 and was told there was a half our embargo on ordering as there was a quiz night in their function room.

Went back to the bar half an hour later and waited as someone ordered their meal. I then tried to order but was told the kitchen was now closed. But someone has just ordered! Ah, they are staying the night!

We were not forewarned of any issues when we enquired about a table at 7.45. Had we been, we could have gone elsewhere. As it was, we had no meal that evening!

Not an experience we will put ourselves through again!

Room Tip: Did not stay overnight
