This was a Sunday afternoon lunch. They have a set menu, nothing particularly inspiring on the menu. Food bland, but what really makes a restaurant stand out is the service, here the service was slow and uncaring. The feeling was that the staff couldn't really be bothered. At the bar, the staff couldn't tell who should be served next. I will not be going back.

This restaurant in the Five Arrows hotel has strong connections with the Rothschild family and their hospitality and wine. The walls are decorated with past Mouton Rothschild labels and some of the Rothschild wine is available. If you want a proper lunch beautifully prepared then this is the place to experience it. We began with a delicate cheese tart followed by duck so tender it melted in your mouth. I tried the steak pie this is a proper pie not one with the lid stuck on in a dish but a proper pie full of deliciously tender meat and lovely pastry accompanied by Autumn vegetables and a jug of gravy. For the deserts a tart with mango sorbet and a selection of ice cream. Don’t be put off by the expensive wine list. Take time to explore it we had a glass of the house champagne by Gustavo Roche it was excellent followed by a glass of chateau Parye Labade one of the Rothschild wines dispensed by the individual sampling method which allows the remaining wine not to be disturbed
If you want a light snack lunch this available but rather misses the point of visiting this establishment. We have visited it over the years and has always been excellent.

Service v slow, food overpriced as was wine. Meat lacking in taste, as was the sole, veg not properly cooked, quantity minimal . Desserts rather good. A sole should look like a fish, chicken with Yorkshire pud a bit odd, aambience fine. But one does not lunch on ambience.

Have not visited here for some time but heard it had been renovated so went for an 80th birthday lunch yesterday. The re-design of the restaurant and its entrance created a very good impression. We were a party of four and the location of our table, the food and wine and the service were all excellent. Our waitress Janet, who said she had only been working there for three weeks deserves special praise. She was friendly, polite, courteous and very efficient; a very real asset to this restaurant.. It was a most pleasant experience and one that we will repeat soon.

We stayed at the five arrows hotel on the 6th of September for two nights for our Anniversary and we ate in the restaurant both evenings. The service was great staff really engaging especially Charles and the food was exceptional, we met the new head chef as he comes out of kitchen to speak to all the dinners which we really enjoyed he talks about the food and where it all comes from. It was a truly a great experience which we would highly recommend.
