Went here on a travel zoo voucher given to us as a belated wedding present. What a lovely place. Once a coaching inn, owned by the Baron Rothschild and on the grounds of the gorgeous Waddesden Manor. The Five Arrows looks like a fairy tale house, turrets and wonderful architecture. We were staying in one of what was probably part of the old stables, set back from the road so lovely and quiet. A traditional approach to service, such as having your bags carried to your room made a refreshing change.
Room was lovely, large, well equipped and comfortable with a large ensuite. Tea and coffee facilities, iron and hair dryer. Personally, we found the bed far too soft, but that was only personal preference and shouldn't reflect badly on the hotel.
Our voucher included £50 towards dinner, and a free glass of champagne. Dinner was served in three adjoining rooms, spacious and intimate. Hubbie chose the guinea fowl and duck terrine followed by rib eye steak and I had tomato tart followed by plaice. All lovely and tasty. Prices were approx £7/ starter and £15-£20/main. 10% service charge is added to the bill.
Breakfast was also included, we sat in the lovely snug overlooking the garden, wonderful. Tasty full English, tea/coffee/orange juice etc. only 1 slice toast each. Other breakfasts such as eggs benedict/ omelette/ kippers were available for a suppliment.
Also included was a pass to the grounds of the Manor, in which we spent a very enjoyable couple of hours. Entrance to the house was extra.
All in all, a wonderful stay and would highly recommend.

When we stumbled across The Five Arrows as a potential venue for our wedding little did we know that this simply charming hotel would not only deliver the perfect wedding we had dreamed of but would also become one of our favourite places to be. We knew that the hotel was part of the Waddesdon estate and was National Trust property but we had no idea of the delights that were in store.

After exchanging emails with the hotel's events co-ordinator (Chloe) it became clear that the Five Arrows prides itself on its quality and service. Where else would reject our first choice of wedding date not because the date was already taken, but because there were other weddings in the same week and there was a fear that they would not be able to provide the attention and service a wedding requires?

A meal in the restaurant before being shown around sealed the deal as the food was simply amazing. We couldn't wait to eat there again and in fact we did do just that many times before the wedding took place. We booked an exclusive use package on the spot and didn't look back. Nothing was ever too much trouble, from being able to view the rooms to ensure we allocated suitable accommodation to each of our guests right through to providing quality food to cater for a wide variety of dietary requirements, One of our guests required wheat/gluten free food and was taken aback that for once she did not have to take any food with her and the menu was still as exciting for her as all of our other guests!

All of our guests had a fabulous time and raved about the food and the hospitality offered by the entire staff. Guests staying with us in the hotel all loved their rooms and enjoyed the little touches such as their room having a lovely book all about the Waddesdon estate as well as being able to visit the manor gardens free of charge the following day. We had seen reviews mention issues with road noise but none of our guests experienced any issues that would deter them from staying again. Yes, there is a main road just outside - our suggestion would be to get out of bed at 8am and enjoy the fabulous selection of warm pastries, cereals, juices and cooked food that is a Five Arrows breakfast!

We genuinely cannot rate The Five Arrows highly enough and we are looking forward to many more meals, overnight stays and family occasions at this special place. Although we live an hours drive away we will even make the journey just to have a coffee and sit on the terrace enjoying the view of the beautiful garden.

If you are considering a visit to this venue (or a wedding here!) don't think twice.

Dear Paul888832

What a delightful and considerate review from a delightful and considerate couple. We do host a large number of weddings here, and there are some of these that especially stand out as an absolute pleasure to be involved in from start to finish - so much so that (even though we are overjoyed for you beginning your married life together!) we lament the day being over. I speak especially for Chloe, who I know misses you in particular.

We are pleased to be able to accommodate dietary requirements within our food offerings, and thank you very much for your lovely words about our food, rooms, fetching grounds and hospitality in general.

We hope you live happily ever after, and ask you to please keep in touch.

Recently married at the Five Arrows (late April 2013); after a good deal of research we settled for this lovely old Rothschild residence and we are so glad we did! We decided on the 'Exclusive Use' package which worked out brilliant. This gave us sole use of the whole hotel and restaurant from an hour before our wedding ceremony until lunch time the following day. We were both very impressed with the relaxed professionalism of all the staff involved from the 'event organiser' to chef and team who looked after us so well. The behind the scenes activity that was transparent to us and our guests was most impressive and we did not have to worry about a thing. Although limited to 50 guests for the wedding breakfast this suited us fine and made for a very intimate and personal ceremony. The attention to detail was really nice and the standard of food simply outstanding. Because we had 50 guests we were entitled to a 'food tasting' where we were able to try 3 of the meals; be warned, go there hungry as they serve you the whole dish (starter, main and pud!) and therefore there is a lot to eat; They also let you have a glass or wine or 2 and a pint of the local beer if you are adding a barrel as part of the deal. All in all we were blown away with the standard of food. The venue itself is lovely for the ceremony and many areas for excellent photographs. Although on the main road through Waddesdon, the 30 limit ensures the road noise is low and we did not notice it at all during the wedding breakfast. The rooms are also beautifully presented with each having their own distinct charm and character. This really added to our day as many of our guests could stay the night (so the evening lasted longer) and then we had breakfast with the all the following day which just made things carry on even longer. We cannot recommend the Five Arrows highly enough, although not cheap, you do get what you pay for and we both felt it was very good value for money.

Room Tip: The honeymoon suite and guest rooms in the court yard are the biggest and furthest away from the roa...

The Five Arrows stands near the gateway to the National Trust property, and is just the place to stay after a day exploring the house and park, where there is so much to see and do. It is an unusual and rather charming 19th century building, and our room was up under the eaves and rather warm in spite of the ventilator fan provided. However it was one of the hottest nights of the year, and that would not normally be a problem.
We were warmly greeted, and had help with our bags, which was very welcome. Dinner in the elegant dining room was delightful. For starters, my pork belly with poached apple and apple mustard sauce was absolutely right, and the delicate tomato tart was equally good. Roast rump of lamb and duck breast were delicious, beautifully seasoned and presented. Mango and passion fruit parfait ended the meal perfectly. It was well paced, and the service faultless. Breakfast was also extremely good. All in all, a delightful experience.

Room Tip: Elderly guests would be well advised to ask for a room which was not on the top floor.

Went to the Five Arrows, Waddesdon for a simple unique wedding on Saturday 29th july. The service is impeccable. Polite young staff attend to your every need with a smile. The rooms are also very beautiful. Clean and tastefully refurbished. Comfortable beds. However if you are in the eves at the front, close the window as the A41 road has heavy traffic all night. Lovely location to see waddesdon manor but be ready to pay the price. Very expensive place to stay and the only thing that lets it down is the food. Not cooked especially well and so little (and i have a small appetite) also beacause i am vegetarian i didn't get a cooked breakfast. Well a teaspoon of beans and 1 tomato sliced is hardly filling. Eat out. Would recommend if you can afford it.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the back of the hotel or in the courtyard, due to road noise. I put children activi...

Dear Mandy L

What a lovely wedding this was. I remember it well. Firstly thank you very much for your kind comments. There has been some recent roadworks on the main A41 to rectify the noise levels and are getting there with our triple glazing which should cut the noise level to a minimum.
I am sorry to read that you were dissappointed with the food. The food was pre ordered and cooked as it was requested. In the recent months we have been awarded our second rossette in the restaurant and have lots of vegetarian breakfast options on our menu.

Stayed for 2 nights on a Travelzoo break. Booked Room 1 which overlooked the gardens at the rear of the hotel. This room though small was quiet and had a very comfy double bed with ensuite shower. The food both at dinner and breakfast was well cooked and along with very good local beer and decent wine (at fair prices) was most enjoyable. The staff were most friendly and provided prompt service. The only minor complaint was that the wooden garden seating needed a good clean. We would definately return to this delightful hotel.

Room Tip: Room 1 and 2 are likely to be the quietiest as they are at the rear of the hotel.
