Plenty to see, with the bonus of an excellent lunch at a reasonable price( the kids food looked great, as well)

Waddesdon Manor is, in my view, a not to be missed visit if you are visiting this area. The view of the house as you approach is breathtaking, built by the Rothchilds In the style of Versailles the house is stunning. You get to see lots of rooms, all beautifully furnished as if the owner has just popped out for a minute. The guides in each room are really knowledgeable and interesting. The gardens are also lovely and worth taking the time to explore, then there is the little railway and a choice of eating places which are all great indifferent ways. We usually go to the stables cafe which is quite informal but with a good choice of really good food at sensible prices. You could definitely spend a whole day here if you wanted to do everything. And best of all it's a National Trust property.

Waddesdon is a Rothschild built house, with superb interiors, gardens and a wonderful French chateau exterior. Particularly fascinating are the bachelor apartments--but all of Waddesdon offers a bewitching vision of the life of high Victoriana. Waddesdon is close to London and Heathrow, and a visit can be combined with a visit to Disraeli's house, Hughenden (totally different, but special in its own way)
