We decided to use our afternoon tea voucher in June, it was very easy to prebook our visit and was allocated a parking place right by Cliveden House. The service by the staff was very good, a good selection of sandwiches and cakes with a good choice of different teas. The views from the rooms overlooking the grounds were pleasant, with many of the borders were in full bloom.
A very enjoyable day.

I live locally and so often visit the National Trust at Cliveden as it is so convenient. It's always worth visiting as the gardens, which are extremely well kept are often changing with the seasons. The rose garden still looked good and the walks are lovely. The parterre gardens were, as usual, immaculate. This is really a safe place for children to play and there is a play area for younger children as well as the maze. I was disappointed that the Dovecote cafe was closed as the Orangery cafe has the feel of school dinners about it and it is a pain queuing when you only want a coffee. I understand, though that the Dovecote is being refurbished. Lovely place.

As it was such a nice and sunny day we decided for a day out to cliveden. If you are not a member of the national trust it's quite expensive but I do think it's worth it. I loved the house and the gardens, it's very well looked after and really beautiful

House and gardens look stunning. Limited ability to tour house (which is a luxury hotel). Lovely walks through grounds; through woods, by river Thames and through beautiful gardens.
Unfortunately the café doesn't seem well managed; we had a dirty tea cup which was replaced by a pleasant member of staff after a long search through the stack of apparently "washed" cups (did make me think how clean my cup was before filled with hot chocolate!).
Also first time I have found a number of dirty toilets in NT establishment.

Dear Mothergoosethemoose,

Thank you for your review. It seems that your experience on the wider estate was fairly positive & we're very pleased to hear how you enjoyed the grounds, gardens & walks.

It's a shame that the café & toilet facilities have let us down & effected the rating so much as it is certainly not what we want visitors to encounter whilst with us & then remember.

I can only apologise on behalf of the teams here who do strive to provide good quality service & facilities which for some reason disappointed on the day of your visit. I will pass on your comments as we always take on board feedback to help with staff training & also check on our cleaning schedules to try to avoid this happening again.

We hope you continue to visit & enjoy NT special places.

Kind regards

We called here en route home from Windsor and were glad we did - the place is simply stunning, especially on a bright sunny day. The Long Garden and the Water Garden were equally impressive and although we did not go inside the house, it looked magnificent. Add to this all the usual NT touches - cafe, shop, plant sales etc - and all the ingredients are there for a great visit for all age groups. Just a shame it's 140 miles away otherwise we'd be regulars, if only for the cheese scones!

Dear Gooders741,

Well we're glad you called in as well!

Thank you for leaving us such a lovely review. It really gives a feel of what we have on offer here for everyone.

There's still plenty more to do & see so may be we can tempt you back one day, all 140 miles, to come on a house tour or boat trip (both open March to October on certain days) or just to have another scone!

Kind regards
