We returned today from two nights in the Spencer suite at Cliveden as a special treat for our anniversary. I have stayed in five (and even six) star hotels all over the world and can honestly say this is one of the best. The service is fantastic, nothing is too much trouble and the food...trying to find the right words...simply sublime.
If you want modern and perfect acres of marble, gold leaf, crystal and bling, this is not the place for you. But this place has character, by the bucketload, as an historic grande dame of a house like this should have. I would highly recommend Cliveden. - and can't wait to go back.

And we can not wait to have you back, it was an absolute pleasure to have you in house and I know the team were delighted to read your review, It spurs them on to do their very best. Thank you for understanding that we are not all sparkly and new, but that the most important elements of the
Cliveden experience is the Heritage nature of the house, the people and the fabulous cuisine.
Kind regards Sue W

My wife and I had afternoon tea at Cliveden House, it was a very relaxing and peaceful afternoon. The staff could not do enough to help us, providing regular tea refills whilst being subtle and not at all intrusive.

Live music was being played on the piano throughout the afternoon which helped build the ambience of our time together.

I recommend afternoon tea at Cliveden House for anyone who wants to spend quality time with their partner.

Quality time, words that resonate with so many of us that have too little of it. Thank you for choosing to bring your wife along to Cliveden to share some of your valuable time. Afternoon tea is
such a wonderful tradition, we see it becoming more popular by the day. I hope you will be tempted to return to linger over a leisurely lunch to experience Chef André's dishes on another occasion. Thank you for your kind review. Sue W

We stayed the night of our wedding at Cliveden. The nights accomodation was included in our wedding package with Hedsor and it was just sublime. We stayed in the Barry Suite which was beautiful and spacious and they had everything prepared in advance so we didn't have to explain anything (including two glasses of champagne). The service was discreet and courteous and everything you would expect from a hotel of this standing. I only wish we had had more time to spend at Cliveden.

Have just spent an overnight stay in Spring Cottage with 5 girlfriends. What a wonderful cottage (more like a house) beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. A cream tea was waiting for us with beautifully light scones, an enormous selection of teas and coffees, milk and juices in the fridge. The setting right on the Thames in perfect seclusion apart from a National Trust footpath running alongside. The staff could not have been more helpful and drove us down individually to the cottage. By 5.00pm we had lit the fires and candles were on. There is so much space at Spring Cottage you never feel on top of anybody else, the beds so comforable and knowing what the English weather is like I would prefer to be here in the winter than in the summer. We could not have found more friendly and helpful staff on both days. I hope to return with the family for a special occasion.

Great to see Spring Cottage being shared by friends, exactly as it should be. You are right though folks are missing a trick, the best time to be there is in the Winter. Seclusion and luxury, all that is needed then is the burning log fire and ooodles of Champagne!
We look forward to seeing you again, hopefully on another special occasion, it certainly will be for us. Sue W

My partner and I have just spent Saturday night at Cliveden for her 38th birthday. It was not cheap - quality isn't, but the whole experience was first class from start to finish. The service was spectacular and many hotels could learn from Cliveden. This is how it is done. Nothing was too much trouble. The tasting menu was fantastic and creative and the suite we had was beautiful (Blakeney). If there was any negative the shower was not the greatest but that was a minor thing. We will be back. Without any shadow of doubt. If you do visit do bring boots and walk the grounds - quite stunning.

At the end of my long day, to click onto tripadvisor and read your delightful review has quite made my day. I know that is not what it is all about but it really is a delight to learn that we sent you away with some happy memories of Cliveden and of a precious weekend away. Until the next time....Thank you.

Excited to have the experience of this historic address. The cost however leaves one as breathless as does the setting. Before saying "yes" ask whether there is a charge. Insist on staying in the main house. The dress code is not enforced & if you're trying to get away for some quiet time, you may be disappointed as there were children and disruptive phone conversations to remind us that we were not alone.

We love to welcome our American guests to Cliveden. The house was after all once owned by the most eminent American family from 1851 to 1966. Thank you for choosing us and for taking the time to review us. We are delighted you scored the service so highly. Kind regards Sue W

I spent a wonderful afternoon having tea here with a group of girlfriends. Wow... The service was superb, the tea delicious, sandwiches, scones and the most stunning patisserie. We started with champagne ( a little bit of an extravagance) and were truly pampered and spoilt for the whole afternoon, right down to the lovely staff who offered to take a photo of us by the Stunning Christmas tree in the magnificent hall. The excess cakes were carefully boxed with a quiet "I've popped a few extra eclairs in" and taken home to share with the husbands...
I would recommend this beautiful place for a treat even if you cannot afford to stay - we're saving for a weekend break now!!
