Wife and I spent fantastic couple of hours wandering beautiful grounds. Gardens etc really are fabulous and well worth a visit.
We followed this with afternoon tea at 3.30pm on a Thursday. Rooms for tea are again great, really makes you feel somewhere out of the ordinary . However the afternoon tea was a little disappointing. Staff were not very attentive and second cup of tea was cold by the time staff came round to pour it. My wife explained tea was cold & the waitress just topped up cup from tepid tea in pot. Staff member who placed food down really rushed through explanation of what was there & with his accent we didn't have a clue tbh. Food not up to standard of recent afternoon tea we had at Dorchester in London. The service was nowhere near as good, in fact I would say service was actually quite poor. We felt dumped at table and not looked after at all. Also, staff were all foreign, which obviously isn't a problem. Except staff's understanding of English was so poor, that at 1 stage we were bought a hot cup of milk, instead of tea with milk . Overall we left disappointed .More
