Went for lunch with a group I belong to. Not enough staff serving to cope with us (group of about 24) plus other diners in the pub. Might have helped if cranberry sauce/horseradish sauce etc had been place on the tables beforehand. They served all the fish dishes first, followed by turkey then beef. This meant diners on the tables were not eating together and some had just about finished eating by the time the last meals appeared (we had three tables) Will not be repeating the experience next year.

Been here for drinks so thought we would try the roast, service was slow and waiter has the people skills of a fruit fly. Roast was bought out (beef and pork) waiter announced 2 beef...not a great start. Meat was average, I note from other reviews the pub has ran out of roasties before let's just say you're probably best off without them!!!
Service was not good at all, waiter even skipped the 'tip' option on the pin machine, missing out on a small tip!
The pub itself is a beaut, open fires and comfortable chairs!!
Overall if you want a decent pub with staff who don't care and ok food then you will like here.

Had sunday lunch with 7 other people. Most of us had a sunday roast and every one liked their food. The waiter was excellent, did a top notch job making sure we were ok and offering drinks, etc. There was an issue with the final bill, after checking with the waiter he was apologetic and every thing was fine. I would recommend this pub, especially if you want a decent meal next to a cosy wood burning fire!

I have been to this restaurant several times as it is quite local to me. Every time we come on a Sunday, whether we book or not, they always seem to run out of roasts. Even if you come early we are always greeted with "sorry we have no roast beef/lamb pork" and even on one occasion were told they had plenty of meat but had run out of roast potatoes!
It seems that everything else on the menu is mediocre with over the top descriptions.
The menu isn't that great. I ordered the fillet steak last night and ordered it rare. It was tough, grisly and over cooked.
The service is very slow and it took them 20 minutes to even ask what we wanted to drink and the restaurant was half empty.
Over the years we have visited so many times and always come away disappointed. Every visit we spend in the region of £80 - £100 for a family of 2 adults and 2 young children. It just isn't worth the disappointment, so we probably won't go again.
