“Tasty food and fast service”
Reviewed June 15, 2013

We came to The Red Lion recently as we were staying at Stoke Place Hotel and didn't want to spend a fortune eating in the hotel restaurant. We informed the waitress we were on a very tight schedule, and our order was taken quickly and our food arrived very promptly. My boyfriend had lamb with dauphinoise potatoes and asparagus. The lamb was served pink and tasted wonderful. I had the wholefood salad with the addition of salmon. The salad was excellent- very healthy but tasted wonderful due to having so many different flavours. The salmon was also lovely, and a really generous portion for just £4 extra. We were both very full and satisfied at the end of our meal, and we managed to get to our next location on time.

“Great pub, and wonderful Sunday Lunch”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

What a great pub, the Sunday Lunch is so goof for so little money. The service is great and the lady running it is so helpful and friendly. Wanted to know why the last people who wrote a bad review, found out, not sure if I would be happy if someone ate their own sandwiches in the pub, and complained about the beer, which has always been alright. I have now been there about 12 times as has my best friend and we love it, go you wont be sorry.

“Not quite good enough now”
Reviewed May 15, 2013

I've been to the Red Lion before and would say their food is usually pretty good.

However, this time they only managed 'good' with 1 of 4 dishes, 'mediocre' for 2 further dishes and not very good for the final one. Quite how you can make a bit of lemon sole look and taste so weird is quite an art.

However, the service (as usual) was very good with polite and friendly staff.

They need to up their game to make sure their food quality is better; there are plenty of other good restaurants in the area, certainly from where we traveled.

“Treat yourselves”
Reviewed May 14, 2013

We went in from our disaster of a meal at the Fox and Phesant up the road as we were peckish we always said should have a meal hear and I wish we had. Neither of us was really hungrey I think we was put off buy Fox and Phesant, We had the baked Camembert for two and a coffee it was yummy, the whole place id lovely, we had a push to get in the car park as full, you really should book. They were not put off that we only wanted cheese and coffee at all the service was good even though it was full they were all busy
We will be back Friday is Fish night, its a bit pricey but who cares if the food is good
For what we had, we will go back

“Good experience but improvement needed!”
Reviewed April 20, 2013 via mobile

I've visited here many times. After hearing there had been a refurbishment I booked a table for me and two friends for a Sunday lunch and get together! The service was prompt and food was great , we paid for the food and asked for more drinks, which we were informed we could add to a tab, which we agreed! So after awhile we asked for the bill for the drinks, the bar staff had no idea what the bill was or how much! After much discussion we paid for the bill and left! Overall it is a great pub with a warm welcoming atmosphere, I'm hoping with the reopening chaos it was just a one off with the bill. So I do recommend a visit here if you are in the area!! Lovely garden and comfy garden sitting!!
