This hotel is ideally located in the centre of Buckingham. The rooms are large but in need of a refurb .... Tired looking with broken tiles in bathroom and loose fittings.

Don't expect wide screen TV's ( the weekend I stayed all the sat channels weren't working )

The biggest problem is staffing. They seem to be in need !!! The reception staff were very helpful but the Resturant manager couldn't care less. We were part of a large party who had 6 rooms booked ... but It didn't mean we could eat in the resturant, it was far too much trouble ... even after trying to get us some food in the bar the poor receptionist was refused any help. This isn't what you would expect from a decent hotel ( DECENT - say no more! )

On a plus they do have free wifi ... great for searching for a nice place to eat !!

I wouldn't recommend this hotel .. I'm sure there are others around !!

The guest was with a party that had reserved a table for 5 people in the restaurant and arrived with a requirement for a table for 10 on a very busy Saturday night. The Restaurant was fully booked on this evening, unfortunately we were unable to accommodate the request to increase the table size, alternative dining suggestions were made.

I note the comment on our TV system; we are in the process of upgrading the TV system, there are flat screen TV's in all Suites and Executive Rooms, work is in progress completing the installation of the flat screens into all the standard rooms.

I am sorry the guest did not enjoy his stay, unfortuantely I fear we have been a victim our our own success by having a full restaurant on a Saturday evening

Located around the corner from High Street, a 450 year old building with car park in the old horse stables. Typical old English building with three steps up here, two up there, and then 15 steps ahead and 20 to the right. A real maze, but with a great atmosphere and a sort of "genuine" feeling about it. Free Wireless LAN in the room, good breakfast and friendly personnel. Good value for money, and certainly more pleasant than the usual chain hotels. Free access to a pool and fitness club (off site).

We got married in the Old Town Hall (at the end of Oct 2010) which is opposite Villiers and run by Villiers Hotel - so we went to Villiers a good few times for pre-Wedding meetings, and had a pretty fair impression of the place, the staff and the general expectation of them dealing with our 'special day'.

We also had a large number of family and friends that stayed for one or two nights for the Wedding weekend - so we had to have confidence that Jean Rush and her team would look after all of them to a high standard - after all, anything bad would reflect on us for choosing the venue.

All we can say is that at all times we were dealt with in a superb manner. Nothing was too much trouble for ANY of the staff, we built up a good rapport with them over the months and they are a great bunch.

We ate at the Restaurant with our families just after booking the venue, and that was really enjoyable - superb food. I even booked my 'last night' meal there with my family, again, that was great.

The rooms were all fine, we had no negative feedback. A couple of the rooms were a bit hot, but this was dealt with in a speedy way.

Even as the glow of our recent Wedding fades (hopefully the wife won't read that bit !), we've had absolutely no negative feedback from any of our guests on the venue, the rooms or the breakfast in the morning.

It was absolutely perfect for our Wedding, and Villiers know what they are doing - it's a very well run place. Friendly staff and it's all to a high standard. They are pretty flexible to any of your requests..................my wife and I even ended up pulling a few pints behind the bar !

The hotel inside is 'oldy-worldy', lots of uneaven floors, bags of history and plenty of character - lovely open fires and deep sofas. The rooms are done up to a high standard and the food is great. Parking for all our guests was fine.

We know the area fairly well, and Villiers is a gem of a place in lovely town. We appreciate that we got the rooms at a 'special rate', but even so, we were not treated any differently than if we'd paid more.

I'm sure we will be back to stay at a later date.

I always stay at The Villiers Hotel because of its excellent location. The rooms however are now very tired and in need of a refurbish..as is the lift which is old, carpetted and smelly..Staff on Reception are friendly and welcoming. The biggest let down is their breakfast..if you are lucky your fresh fruit salad will look like a FRESH fruit salad..but it remains in the same bowl if not eaten that day to be presented the following morning with discoloured apples floating around a half empty bowl. The juices which are on the menu are not cleaned daily - this is obvious from the almost empty fruit juice containers. When Miss Happy (blonde woman) is on duty everything seems to be right - however when Mr Grumpy is on duty everything seems like an effort for him. We ordered tea at the bar which never arrived - but this is just minor compared to the breakfast which really lets the place down. I would recommend the Villiers simply because I have been going there for years but its starting to go downhill.

Thank you for your comments posted on Trip Advisor on 17 November 2010. I am very happy to receive feedback, both positive and negative comments are always welcome. I would like the opportunity to speak with you direct so that we can discuss your disappointment over the areas you mention. I can then ascertain who the two members of staff you refer to, 1. to give the 'Blonde Lady' a well earned thank you for her customer service towards you and 2. to speak with the 'Grumpy Man' to find out what was causing him to be this way.
I note you are disappointed with the quality of breakfast, fruits and juice, I would like to assure you that the fruit salad chef makes each day with fresh fruits and that the fruit juices are fresh daily.

You mentioned the rooms are "tired and in need of refurbishment;" a vast majority of the rooms have been refurbished over the past 2 or 3 years but there are still a few to do. I can only assume that you were allocated one of the few rooms which require a little update to the decor.

I stay at hotels a lot travelling for work on my own. I've stayed at Villiers on a few occasions now and have always been made to feel welcome, the rooms are always great and the service in the restaurant makes you feel comfortable even though you're dining alone. I don't enjoy staying away from home, but Villiers makes it a bit more bearable!

Villiers is my favourite local pub/restaurant - the food in the bar and restaurant is amazing, even their steak baguette at only £5.95 with salad and chips is 10x better than any normal steak baguette and the sunday roast is delicious - tender meat, good menu choice and a snip at £15.95 for two courses and £19.96 for 3.

Sadly, the place is always dead as they don't advertise themselves enough. Great for me as it's always quiet and you can sit next to the roaring fire on colder days or chill in the lounge, they also have sport on for anyone who can't drag themselves away. The bar has a really cosy atmosphere and the restaurant is really smart - it's a must if you are looking for somewhere to eat in or around Buckingham.

Only slight negative is the service which can be a bit hit and miss and you can sometimes wait for a while to be served but as it's usually quiet it's not so much of a problem.
