“Summertime Meal”
Reviewed July 26, 2014

Tonight my family and I had a very pleasant freshly prepared meal at Bucca. The Cornish Bream was moist and flavourful. My mother-in-law enjoy the Coltswold lamb and my son had the Aberdeen Angas Burger with fat chips. Although you might think these dishes sound nothing special they were in fact full of flavour and delicious. The speed of service was good. Earlier in the morning we had also enjoyed a fresh breakfast of toast and eggs sitting outside at Bucca, before visiting the well stocked health food shop next door! I would recommend Bucca for it's overall quality of the ingredients and creative and unique dishes. Thank you very much to the Chef and staff. We look forward to returning soon.

“Disappointing, especially for the price”
Reviewed July 14, 2014

Went out for a birthday meal with 4 of us on a Friday night on 11/7. It was quiet with max 3 tables. Food generally good but with some significant flaws in food and service you wouldn't expect for the price.

Starters were overall very good including Fish stew, cod cheeks and crayfish and lobster cocktail. Unfortunately black pudding not available. Mains were average but let down further by steak badly overcooked (medium-well to well rather than medium-rare requested). bearnaise sauce absent (only realised after finished, so didn't mention). Guinea foul was also dry and overcooked. Lamb was good and generously portioned. only one of us had desert, the chocolate pudding with Mascarpone and the mascarpone was off, smelt like stilton with orange dots on, again this was only noticed when about halfway through. Quality control standards are clearly lacking, customers shouldn't be expected to quality check food and check off ingredients present when out on a social occasion!

Service was poor. Prosecco poured quickly and inconsistently then taken away without explanation (was returned with a cooler after 5 mins with no explanation). Waiting staff a little shy and not available as often as would like. Doesn't help that it is on two floors although we didn't believe there was anyone downstairs. When asked what a Steak Onglet was, waitress didn't know and didn't offer to find out. There are only 7 main courses, so would have thought this was important. Also they couldn't recommend a cooking style for the steak. Didn't ever collect the remains of the desert until after we left. As a result we didn't have a suitable moment to mention the Mascarpone error

Had high hopes that we could find another special place to go in the area alongside the old thatched inn and purple goose but all things considered it is unlikely we will return.

“Great Brunch”
Reviewed July 8, 2014

Had a delicious brunch at Bucca on Monday. Everywhere in town was quiet so we choose this place as we'd been meaning to try out their offering.
My friend and I both had the Arnold Bennett omelette which was served with lively thick toast.
As a side order we thought we'd try deep fried olives stuffed with cheese- they were a delight but very hot!
We washed our brunch down with a couple if pots of jasmine blossom tea - served beautifully in glass teapots and matching cups.
The overall bill was a little more than we would normally pay for a brunch but the food we had was very flavoursome so we were happy to push the boat out!

“Wonderful Find”
Reviewed June 5, 2014

Went there as we had a voucher from Groupon the introductory champagne was very good. The food is excellent with an interesting blend of African and Western flavours. The cod cheeks with venison and hibiscus ragout was excellent. Service was all you could expect. I would highly recommend this restaurant and we will definitely be returning very soon. Closed on Sunday.

“Hidden gem”
Reviewed June 1, 2014

Having eaten at Bucca on several occasions, we received an offer from amazon for a meal for two plus a glass of champagne. On arrival we were asked if we would like to have our champagne on the tables outside as it was a sunny warm evening, excellent champagne not Prossecco or Cava fresh bottle opened for us. Given time to enjoy our drinks before being offed the menus. Once again the food was excellent west meets Africa with mashed yams instead of potatoes, my lamb was superb as was the sauce. If you live in Buckingham or surrounding villages this restaurant is a must for a meal, this quality of food and flavor combination is normally only available in London. if have not eaten here give it serious consideration
