“Lovely retreat!”
Reviewed January 1, 2014 for a stay in December 2013

We've just returned from a wonderful New Year break at the beautiful Garden Barn. On arrival we were met by Jan who kindly welcomed us to the cottage and provided us with essentials and a continental breakfast for the next morning.

During our stay the weather was dreary, but we were quite happy to stay inside the cosy retreat! The cottage has everything you could need for a stay away from home and is decorated to a high standard. Importantly, the bed is very comfortable and ensured a good night's sleep!

Should you wish to venture out, The Garden Barn is ideally located for a visit to Stowe House Gardens where we enjoyed a lovely walk. For longer stays there are plenty of other places of interest nearby.

“Very Pleasant stay”
Reviewed September 24, 2013 for a stay in September 2013

The booking was a last minute breakaway, Jan provided all essential ingredients for continental breakfast, which were of good quality. The property is very clean and immaculately maintained. We would stay here again if returning to the area as it is centrally based for many NT properties. We certainly enjoyed the tales from the tour guides at Upton Park and Claydon.

“Fab cottage”
Reviewed September 23, 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We booked this cottage as a very last minute break. We arrived quite late on Saturday night. We were met by Jan, who had put the heating on, left fruit, cheese, drinks and bread in for us, also a very substantial continental breakfast.
The cottage was spotlessly clean, beautiful bedlinen and towels, and a VERY comfortable bed, the bathroom and lounge were exceptionally appointed.
I would thoroughly recommend this cottage.....we can't wait to visit again....well done Jan.

“Home away from home”
Reviewed August 3, 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We stayed here for a week at the end of July. We used the cottage as a base and visited London ( one hour by train), Legoland, Warner bros. studios, Oxford and Strattford upon Avon ( all about one hour by car). The cottage and garden were lovely and Jan and David were wonderful hosts. We were provided with food for our breakfast the next day which was a lovely touch. Our children shared the settee bed which worked out well.
There is a pub just up the laneway which serves food. The nearest town is Buckingham, four miles away, which has a tesco and a few restaurants. Bicester is about 12 miles away and there is a cinema, a large Sainsbury's and the train station.

“Cosy and Comfortable”
Reviewed July 3, 2013 for a stay in January 2013

We stayed at the Barn from January 2013 to May 2013 as emergency temporary accommodation arranged by our insurance company. As soon as we walked in we knew we would be comfortable. We stayed in the middle of winter so we were concerned that we would be cold, but we need not have worried. The Barn was very cosy and warm and there was plenty of hot water.
The King size bed was very comfortable and the bed clothes and towels were all clean and soft. When the weather improved we were able to sit outside in the garden. The Barn is in a very convenient spot for touring the Cotswolds, visiting Bicester Shopping Centre, Oxford, Milton Keynes and Silverstone.

The owners Jan and David are friendly and were concerned to make our stay very comfortable. Although they live in the house next door, they made sure that we had our privacy during our stay.
