Went on the basis of Trip Advisor reviews for Sunday lunch. The pub has a dated feel to it. No modernity. The welcome was, however, excellent, faultless. Ongoing service was refreshingly informative and natural.
The lunch itself was fairly standard. We had a selection between us of pork, beef and gammon. The latter was very nice. The roasties were overcooked. Portions were generous.
On the basis of the food alone I would rate average to good. The service good to excellent. The facilities dated. So, compared to some of the previous reviews we were 'disappointed'. But compared to the cost I would rate it nearer a 4.
