“Best restaurant in Beaconsfield”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2013 via mobile

This great little local restaurant just keeps getting better and better and stands head and shoulders above the other restaurants in the area. On our latest visit to celebrate our anniversary, all our menu choices were excellent, especially the steak and the duck, which were both cooked to perfection. It was a really busy evening but despite this the service was exceptional from both the owners and their friendly team and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Will definitely be back soon and would definitely recommend.

“One of the Very Best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2013

Mark & Jo,

Thank you for another great evening. I think we have visited you 5 times over the past couple of months and on each occasion we and our friends have left having enjoyed the most beautifully prepared and presented food. The atmosphere is buzzing, the staff friendly and most attentive, great food and wine what more could any customer wish for.

Fantastic,

Thank you both,

John & Sandra.

“Party catering as good as the restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

After having had many coffees at The Cape and greatly enjoyed a couple of birthday dinners there I decided to ask Jonette about private catering - I am so pleased I did; whilst I had deliberated endlessly over what to provide she quickly worked out what I actually needed! We had a family party at home for around 30 people and the food was marvellous as well as being generously portioned and well-priced for the quality; deliciously tasty dishes, superb presentation and all delivered by Mark. It is the personal involvement of the owners at each stage which sets this service apart. (Oh yes and a mention must go to the excellent Dana and Julian whose mixture of hard-work and charm meant we could relax and enjoy our evening).

“Very good restaurant, so close to excellent”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2013

Let me start by saying that I really enjoyed the meal at The Cape and once again Trip Advisor helped me to hone in on really good food.

Warm welcome and given a choice of where we wished to be seated. The décor left me a little unsure about what it was trying to do. It wasn't really saying South Africa, other than a few paintings on the wall. I know the place has a different use in daytime however felt it could do more to create a feel vibe.

Not a huge menu but enough to choose for different moods. I'd rather a small selection of very well done food than trying to cater for every possible option. Prices are very reasonable for the quality.

Scallops starter was tasty but felt insubstantial, this feeling wasn't helped by the over large plate. For main I had the Springbok. A first for me so can't really compare. Was well cooked and tasty but I felt the Pomegranate and Pinotage Jus (which in itself was great) was a little overpowering for the flavour of the Springbok.

I didn't have desert but helped my wife finish her meringue which was excellent.

A couple of minor points that brought it down a star. We ordered some green beans as a side. They didn't have any so brought asparagus and asked us if we wanted it instead. It would have been easy to realise before cooking those that they should ask us. We didn't want it so had a small delay whilst they got us a different side.

Despite both of us having steaks we had to prompt for steak knives once the mains had been served. Finally we were offered bread but this could have been earlier not once we'd begun our
starters.

Overall though it is a great place to eat with a couple of minor points that could have lifted it.
