Excellent whitebait and tandoori chicken starter. Salmon, lamb and venison Wellington main courses were all good. Wine list good and well priced. Does what it says on the tin - good food at a good price with excellent service - what's not to like. It's much better value for money than Guidos for example. Oh yes and it has the best London Pride you will find anywhere.

Thank Mark B

One of the few restaurant chains that serves whitebait!!
We ate at The Boot andSlipper last Sunday and what a lovely surprise, Whitebait as a starter. Good sized portion and well cooked. Served with a slice of lemon and lime and tartare sauce.
Well done it was a real treat.

Love it, the staff are always friendly and the food is great. Sarah the manager seems to genuinely care about everything and we always get great service from Colette and Stacey.

As we go to a number of Craft Fairs near Amersham we always go for our evening meals to the Boot & Slipper which is handy by car or walking distance from our Bed & Breakfast accommodation in Amersham. My husband and I have enjoyed every meal we have had there which was usually a main course and dessert and the staff - Sarah, Stacey, Sam, Hattie, Colette, Hema, Magda, & Michael (hope we have not forgotten anyone) are all very pleasant and keep checking to see if everything is ok for us. We shall definitely be returning in 2014 during our next visit to Amersham

Booked via the website and got the table of our choosing.
I am a local and was meeting an old colleague who had travelled up from Maidenhead; it wasn't an occasion for fine dining but I wanted a venue where we would both be comfortable to reminisce for a couple of hours in decent surroundings over decent grub ..we weren't disappointed. There continues to be a contrast between the bar offering (slow /poorly managed) and the dining service which, on the basis of 3 recent visits, has been attentive and quick. Our waitress was pleasant and patient and our meal (sausage & mash for me; a chorizo lasagne type dish for him) came hot and tasty. We were asked if we would like condiments, I called for mustard which was served in a small dish - I would not have been impressed if a jar had been plonked in front of me - and it complimented the bangers perfectly. The waitress came back a while later to check on us and to see if we required a sweet or more drinks. We ate relatively late for lunch (2.30pm) and were gratifyingly spared any 'toing and froing' of staff clearing tables as can be the experience in certain establishments (usually noisily with liberal use of a spray bottle). Indeed, the atmosphere was relaxing and tranquil allowing us the chat freely without the feeling we were making other diners uncomfortable, or they us. Cost was reasonable and we were not hurried. A pity they can't up their game on the bar service which is impersonal. Pre Chef & Brewer it was a proper local whereas now, sadly, the place bears a clear corporate stamp.
