The Angel pub is a surprising pub just a few minutes from Junction 12 of the M1 Motorway. The Bar area is homely and comfortable and well used by the locals, but if you want a bit of privacy then there is a lovely room of the main entrance where Leather Sofa's adorn the walls.
The Restaurant also comes off the main entrance with two levels serving lunches and dinners on plain tables. Although the atmosphere is a little lacking and the menus were not too inviting, the actual choice would suit most people and added with the specials (pie of the day, catch of the day and soup of the day) you cannot fail to find something you would like. We chose the catch of the day (Trout Fillets served with new potatoes and fresh vegetables) and the Pie of the day (Steak and Ale Pie served with Chips and fresh vegetables) which was served within ten minutes by out attentive waiter. The fish was tasteless and the accompanying vegetables were dry (could have done with more tartar sauce) but the Pie was absolutely fantastic and the Chips were crisp and tasty.
All in all, this was a good pub with nice meals (if you choose wisely), great coffee and a good choice of beers.
